Israel has sent a “very clever message” to Iran with its retaliatory strike, according to ANU’s Arab and Islamic Studies Centre Research Scholar Ian Parmeter.
Iranian authorities declared on Friday that they shot down several drones from the sky over the cities of Isfahan and Tabriz.
An Israeli official confirmed the attack to The Washington Post, claiming that the strike was intended to signal Israel’s ability to strike inside Iran.
“I think it’s a very clever message,” Mr Parmeter told Sky News Australia.
“They clearly don’t want the crisis on another front to escalate, but they did send a message that they can hit the nuclear facilities with very precise targeting.”
