Israel vs. Hamas: How to navigate the flood of misinformation and "fake news"

The ongoing situation between Israel and Hamas has created a storm of misinformation, unverified reports, and so-called "fake news" online that's making it tough to determine fact from fiction.
Tech expert Carmi Levy joined our hosts on "The Morning Show" to discuss the prevalence of online misinformation during the Israel-Hamas conflict as each side looks to shape public opinion on the conflict.
He spoke about the consequences and the impact that Canadian news-blocking has had when it comes to not being able to inform the public about what's happening in the Middle East, cultivating an environment ripe for the spread of misinformation.
Finally, Levy also highlights ways you can verify information on social media.

The best way to avoid "misinformation" is to avoid believing anyone who seriously uses the term "misinformation".

But it does make sense. The term "misinformation" is primarily used by the MSM and other official sources that actually proliferate "misinformation". It's just a buzzword used to discredit or censor any opinion or fact that is subjectively not favored by the establishment. All you have to know is that the Palestinians voted for hamas to govern all the while knowing that hamas’s #1 priority was to destroy Israel. If Israel loses this “ war “ there won’t be a peace treaty , there will be an extermination. They should also know that Egypt has had their border with Gaza closed for years and they are not allowing any Palestinians to cross. What do they know that we don’t ?

To be fair to the voters, I believe they had only 2 realistic options to vote for being either Hamas or Fatah which are both terrorist groups. It's similar to how we have 2 realistic option in liberal or conservative when we really don't want either of them.

War is always more complex than that, but it will be like Isis in Afghanistan. There will be no Jewish country, is that bad? Do not know, but with a democratic system, every country could be a religious country. These Muslim countries are mostly because there is a mono power or an equally sovereign power that still has something to say in governance.

@@RISE..... who are the wrong people? Everybody has their point of view and everybody has some moral points but some more than others. The only way to solve conflict is by talking. If the citizens of Palestine have chosen a leader, their citizens should obey and trust their leader has the best interest. If a radical subgroup wants to start a war, and they have started a fire, the local government should take them out and handle them for justice. If Hamas is that brave and wants to fight, they should not hide between citizens and form a base and fight from there, so they have the best interest in their people instead of hiding and hoping they will not be targeted as they trust the opposite will be graceful and not kill innocents. If other people stand with these terroristic groups, they are part of them and should also be taken out. As there is no moral ground if you kill innocents, especially with inhuman behaviour. They always say Western is bad but if a group is burning Koran why is it they burn the flag of certain country these group have done their action? Or give the leader of that country straight away a kill note? Smart people understand it is only a Sub group, a niche one.
