Was Jesus a practicing Jew or did he leave Judaism and become a Christian? The Old Testament points to a redeemer that would come from the Jewish people. Jesus observed the Mosaic Covenant and was thoroughly Jewish. As the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy, Jesus didn't start a new religion, rather he ushered in the promised New Covenant as the final atoning sacrifice once and for all. Jesus completed (filled full) Judaism as the promised Messiah and Savior. The word Christ is a Greek rendering of the Hebrew word for Messiah. A Christian is a follower of the Messiah.
