Except reform and conservative "converts" aren't Jews. Only one who accepts the mitzvot before an Orthodox (Torah observant) Beit Din can be a valid convert.

A Jew who does not accept a convert is a Jew and knows his or her's Torah. You have no right saying otherwise. If he or she is born to a Jewish mother or had a halakhic, Orthodox conversion, then they are Jewish.

@@cxarhomell5867 Orthodox Jews problems aren’t with Reform Jewish converts. Their problem is with reform and conservative movements as a whole. When you invalidate reform or conservative converts, you invalidate 90% of Jews who aren’t part of the small minority of Orthodox.

@@jordansam I understand what you're saying, but the converts who join the movements will be unable to have their conversions accepted by the wider Orthodox Jewish community. Also, their converts do not count for 90% of the entire religious Jewish community, that would go to the Orthodox Jews, mainly in the Hassidim and the Haredim who are fortunately growing verily in size.

@@jordansam I wouldn't know, but to see that their conversions wouldn't be accepted by Orthodox beis din across the globe tells me one thing about their conversions, at least. let's see orthodox / reform issue from another angle if on the one hand orthodox Judaism is stranded somewhere in the past & find itself misfit in the modern world. on the otherhand Reform movement is itself in a fix, how to reform Judaism, how to separate genuine & relevant laws of Torah from rituals, traditions & opinions of this & that. In rabbinic Judaism whatever the rabbi say is the final authority, that's the oral law, that's the authority above the scripture. personally I myself think that reform is long overdue but the million dollar question is who has the authority or who is fit to do this?

Skid Row Los Angeles California 🇺🇲Thank you Officer Joseph. Your work is very much appreciated.🙏 I am finding in my work with just one homeless person, there are endless, obstacles and hurtles, traps that actually work to create homeless a "comfort zone". As I begin to exercise increasing power to extract him from the homeless comfort zone, and reform him, the community begins to Counter-Reformation tactics to keep him in that homeless comfort zone. He himself concurs that he belongs there. I am not trying to invade Skid Row to become one of the population there.Yet, Ironically this seems to be the aim of the state in maintaining Skid Row, not to extract the homeless from Skid Row and reform him, and give him his life back, but instead to draw me in like a fish on the fisherman's hook, and confirm me, and convert me to be one like everyone else who regard Skid Row as their "comfort zone," The only thing is, I am extremely uncomfortable with that hidden agenda because it is fascist. So, now that I know what's up. I will do my advocacy from remote and discret distance. Sincerely, gospelgirl Ruth Goldberg-Ives Los Angeles, CA

The Supreme Court has no authority to change the law on who is a Jew. Also, Reform is a movement of Western secular people with a soft spot for Jewish tradition. Many of them are Jews, and the vast majority are at least descended from Jews, but they don't believe that Jews are a nation and they can hardly be called a religion when they basically say that the Torah was invented by a wise philosopher who was ahead of his time but is now outdated and aren't sure if G-d exists. So what exactly do those who do a Reform conversion convert to? It's not to the Jewish nation because they don't believe Jews are a nation (and changing the nationality is what Jewish conversion is all about), but it's also not to the Jewish religion because the Reform don't believe in it. All they are doing is joining the Reform movement.

To be clear, I am not a Jew. I have found myself infatuated with and very interested in Judaism and the history of the Jews for many years now. I’ve recently began to wonder if I was meant to follow this path for good reason. So, long story short, I’ve decided to seek conversion. I don’t know how I feel about this. A person could spend a lifetime studying scripture and Jewish tradition and still not know everything. I feel I’ve only just scraped the surface myself. At this point it seems to me that a person should make a full Orthodox conversion if they are serious about being Jewish. This is what I plan to do. Regardless of how you feel about other religions, is a Christian really a Christian if he or she does not believe in the divinity of Jesus? Yet there are people who call themselves Christian who do NOT. Can you be Muslim if you do not believe Muhammad was the “seal of the prophets”? Yet there are some sects which call themselves Muslim who do NOT. From what I know of Reform Judaism especially, it is very far from what the scriptures tell us in many cases. If you’re not serious about being Jewish, then why be Jewish at all?

If by scripture you mean the Written Torah - then you are wrong. All Jews have a right to interpret the meaning of the 613 Mitzvah as they please, No Jew is bound to the interpretation in the Talmud. Show me where that appears in the Written Torah. I was born a Jew and went to Hebrew School for nine years studied through the Mishna. Read the opinions therein - There is little agreement as to what they mean. Read the Dead Sea Scrolls - in there the Cohanim have. Some rather unkind words abut the Fence Around The Torah. Reform Jews are just as Jewish as the Orthodox, and I would argue more so than Satmar.

The reason this is a bad idea is reform and conservative Judaism mostly convert people who are not serious and only want the title of Jewish rather than actually abiding by Torah laws. This will inevitably fill Israel with more liberal minded people which ultimately is the plan since the Liberals are looking for as many votes as they can get.

I was even asked by the beit din if I wouldn’t fit in more with a conservative or orthodox conversion. I chose Reform because that is where I was directed by G-d.
