Perhaps @thechap82 believes that what happened on October 7th is or at least can be justified. I do think that other people's sins cannot excuse your own, and yes, it works both ways. October 7th, however, cannot be excused regardless of the amount of suffering, no 'buts', no 'ifs'. It wasn't a military attack gone wrong, it wasn't an 'excessive act' - it was a deliberate and deliberately brutal attack on civilians. P.S. As for the allegation that the three hostages were killed because soldiers mistook them for Palestinian civilians, it was already reported that the soldiers who shot them disobeyed a direct order to cease fire.

That’s ridiculous… the earliest massacres of Jews during the British Mandate era were of Jews. Israel was in its early years the tiny Jewish nation surrounded by and threatened by a massive coalition of Arab countries. Just because Israel is stronger doesn’t mean it’s the one being the aggressor. Of course Israel isn’t always just in all its decisions throughout history but you can say that about every nation.
