This is easily the best fight in all the series. For the first time it’s not a fight against a “villain of the week” but just a guy. No broken magic, just two MEN beating the shit out of each other and their drive to push on towards their dreams. Animation is great as well and the music is inspiring. 9 out of 10 as my only wish is it lasted longer to show more of a back and forth of who is winning. Instead of Issei being in charge most of the time.

For all of you ungratefull people complaining about the artstyle, heres why it was changed: Season 3 was adapted unfaithfully and so the author of the light novels dropped TNK and got studio passione to do the anime instead. Studio passione decided to follow the artstyle of the light novels and thats the reason for the artstyle change. This fight was awesome and the debut of Issei’s Cardinal Crimson Promotion was something I have been waiting for this season as well as the Illegal move Triana. While the New art style did catch me off guard I like it better since it’s more in tune with the light novel. I can’t wait till season 5 where we’ll get to see more power ups for Issei, seriously Boosted Gear is my favorite anime power.

Somehow this fight was one of my favorites. Highschool DXD was the first "real anime" i watched, excluding dragon ball and naruto, it was the first anime i watched being fully aware of what anime was, and looking back at it... it was shit compared to other stories but still holds a nice spot in my heart, coming back to it after years and watching this fight, i really liked it, nothing fancy about it, just two men with superpowers beating the absolute shit out of each other, giving in to their primordial male instinct to compete in a battle.

In Volume 17, Issei manages to change the Wyverns into red at will where they are able to use Ddraig's powers of Boost, Transfer and Penetrate instead. Longinus Smasher: In Volume 17, Issei gains access to this ability when the Red Wyverns used Boost on him while in this form. An ability initially available only to the Juggernaut Drive that causes a launcher to appear on the armor's chest and fire a powerful destructive beam. Due to its immense power issei need carefully think when using this attack, This leaves a strong fatigue on Issei and depending on how one uses it, it can change the environment.

But using that technique almost killed him and made it so hed die if he touched women. Eventually it got restricted so he could use it safely even though its weaker and has a timelimit of 10 seconds. Prior to drinking the hindu fountain of youth which temporarily revives draig to fight with him and makes his timer in the 30 mins stage , in vol 12 i think (his body is critically injured due to the dragon eater samaels blood) great reds flesh and orphis magic holding his soul and body together.

He'll always be a pawn because those 8 pawns were what he was reincarnated as. Even when he does become a King, his pieces are still 8 (mutated) pawns. By the way, a spoiler, there are no King pieces as they've been deemed illegal. You become a King by becoming a High Class Devil and creating your own peerage but you don't get a King piece. Also, he'll always be Rias' pawn even after he creates his own peerage except when they have tournaments where they have their own teams and are competing against each other.

In terms of actual animation this season was better than the rest and that's a fact. The artstyle not so much. I enjoyed this season a lot because of the better fights and the story between Rias and Issei. Would I have preferred the old animation, absolutely. But I have come to accept this and enjoy it regardless. Anyone that gave up the show because of the artstyle shame on you.
