ISSUES with My Infiniti QX70?!

My QX70 experienced some issues today. I can't believe I'm having this amount of issues at 81K miles. I'll have an update soon. Thanks for watching.

I commented on your video before. In 22 I had the valve body replaced at infinit dealership. Then about 6 months later I had the same issue you had. Took it in and it turns out my coolant leaked into the transmission. Because they share the same line. Had to replace the radiator and transmission maintenance. Now this year in January I had a tune up and got the transmission rebuilt. It’s driving nicely now. I’m currently at 110k miles. I love my car and don’t want any payments.

Wow transmission rebuilt? I know what you mean about not wanting any payments, that is why I don’t want to buy an another right now especially with today’s interest rates. Just got the rear differential fluid change today, it is due every 30K miles. Just passed 85K miles it’s running great.

Dang, i am sorry about your issues. I just recently bought 2016 qx70 and it was your videos that convince me to buy. I previously had 2017 qx50 but i crash it. I was waiting to buy Mercedes gle coupe Amg 43 or 53. But i seen 16’ qx70 with a lot of miles(72,000) but it look great. And it would save me more than half the money for the Mercedes. I bought it and it is driving great… i hope i dont run into trouble. I will constantly check under my hood. Thanks for video. I wish you luck

I’m glad my videos helped you with buying your qx70. The radiator leak was a surprise I’m lucky the local Infiniti rep approved the free replacement. The service advisor said they’ve seen a few 2015s with radiator leaks but not common. It’s been about a week since the repair all is good. Thanks! Have a good one.

Bought mine back in June with 72,000 miles. Changed the tranny fluid @ 75,000 and it was nasty. Felt it shift better after that but I am going to change it again in the next month or so. I got 82,000 on it right now. Hopefully this will give me more outta this transmission overall since I don't really know how the previous owner drove it.

@Moondoggie14 😎 I hope yours does not give you as much problems as mine. I keep up with regular maintenance, but parts do go bad. Since the radiator leak, my QX70 is running well.

My 2013 FX37 has almost 180k miles. Everything original, no repairs, just maintenance. Even battery and tires are 8 years old.

Really enjoyed some of your videos that popped up in my to watch promotions from KZbin. I have been looking to add a 3rd car to my already owned vehicles and had been looking primarily for a gen 1 fx35 and gen 2 as well. Many tell me to go with a gen 2 but I’ve been finding many sour deals upon vin checks, etc. upon watching this video I see something to watch out for in a potential buy of an fix to use for commuting. Any advance/ signs you could give me on a potential buy of an Infiniti fix and what to look out for?

Thanks I’m glad you enjoyed the videos. The 2nd gen FX overall is a good car. I’m surprised I experienced all these issues, I think mine was 1 of 500 that came off the production line that got some bad parts. Hard to say what to look for potential issues that may come up? Check online for FX37 and QX70 issues, I was surprised about some issues that people posted similar to mine.

This issue is basically related to all Nissan/Infiniti amazing VQ37VHR engine which share same unfortunately not so amazing transmission. Had as well replaced valve body on my Nissan 370z and know a lot of people replacing it sooner or later. Very known issue unfortunately. Still overall great cars to own in terms of maintenance.

Sorry to hear about the troubles Orlando, I gotta agree with you about if the repair is covered then keep it, but too much non maintenance bills might be time to let it go. I'm almost at 204,000 on my '11 FX35. I've been crossing my fingers cause I do want to reach 300,000 but with all automobiles and the complexity of things you just never know. Good luck, sincerely!

Hey Kevin thank you! Radiator had a leak it lost all coolant the last few days. Engine over heated which caused it to repeatedly seize and shake, thus the engine check light. Hopefully no permanent damage to the engine. It has been raining a lot my area so that is why I didn’t see antifreeze spillage on my driveway or at work. I need to do a better job checking my cars regularly have other responsibilities in life. Dealership called the Infiniti rep to request a Goodwill radiator replacement, it was approved. I only pay the diagnostic fee and coolant replacement, thermostat, & hoses.

Sweet deal. Hey with life it's hard to keep up with some maintenance, but glad you know what needs to be done. I will hope for you that the engine block doesn't form a crack from being over heated and that your engine's cylinder walls still have a good honing pattern. Take care!

I heard a fluttering sound from the engine that day. Extreme heat alters the oil’s chemistry preventing it from lubricating the engine probably causing the fluttering sound. After the radiator replacement, I’ll find out if there’s damage to the engine after driving it a few days.

At 3:00 you can see the temperature gauge in the H(igh) sector of the scala.

I was so sure it was the control valve assembly I ignored the temp gauge that day. Temp gauge was normal days before and morning of.

By the way I got the transmission rebuilt at a transmission shop $4,600. Radiator was under $1,000. Transmission rebuild included new valve body and all new parts.

Sorry about your car man. I have a Qx70 2017 3.7L, 63,000kms. Didn't shift to 2nd and above gear, shot high rpm approx 4000 at 70kmph, temp was normal no leakages. Replaced valve body and sensor under warranty. I was told this is known issue with infinity qx70. I bought pre-owned from third party dealer with 2 yrs warranty.

Im really wanting to buy one soon hopefully and was looking st a QX70 Sport with around 80K so I hope its not a common issue. I have an 08 Lexus that had a waterpump grinding and took it to the dealership for an oil change and diagnostic but afydr I got it back it was making a loud banging sound from the front of my engine and a few days later the waterpump went out. I feel the stealership loosened a nolt on the pump pulley or pryed on it but they denied any wrongdoing but quoted me 1000 to fix it. I did it myself for free.99 cause I had already prepurchased the parts beforehand. I know upon inspection of my waterpump pulley a couple bolts looked lije they had a socket on them recently because they were shiny on the corners of the bolts so I dont think I can ever trust another stealership after that incident.

The service dept told me a radiator leak is a known issue with the QX70, but not very common. I had the work done by service because it was an Infiniti goodwill parts replacement.

Yeah, I can believe that. I went to a dealership for a transmission fluid change and they claimed to have changed the fluid then when I checked it turns out they didnt even touch it at all. They admitted it after I showed a certain marker I had put just for that reason. You cant trust a dealership anymore , they dont give one damn about service. If they think you are good for it they will ruin your car and purposely cause an issue this way the repair is more than you want to pay and you will say "May as well get another one. Their hope is to sell you a new car and offer you "a good deal" on your trade. Then if you take the bait what will happen is your car will magically be repaired (since they caused the issue) and then it will likely head to auction, if its on lower mileage side it may sit on their lot. Depends on their inventory and needs. Dealerships are a damn scam through and through.

I was told Infiniti Goodwill applies to a “repeat” customers. I’ve been buying/leasing cars from the local Infiniti dealership for years. However, it can be done with on case-by-case depending on the nature of the problem and if the dealership submits a goodwill request to Infiniti or the regional representative.

Thanks. I did not buy an extended warranty. The engine is running good considering it was overheating a few days. Infiniti replaced the radiator no charge to me but I paid for labor. Do you own a FX/QX70?

Hey idont know if I have the same issue but the rpm goes up and down and the car doesn’t move when I accelerate it just move when I move my leg from the brake but when u press on gas the rpm goes up but the car doesn’t go faster

Something is wrong with the engine, the ECU is restricting max revs to prevent further damage to the engine, it is called limp/staggered mode. I would have a trusted mechanic look at it.

Radiator leak 🤦🏻‍♂️. I was told by the service advisor they have seen it with my model year (2015) QX70 at 80K miles, but not common. I made a video of the pickup from service over the weekend, it includes the location of the cracked in the radiator. I’m editing the video now should have it uploaded middle of the week.

I had the problem a new valve body was needed my car is now much more sporty the new valve body is pretty sporty it cost me 2200 with labor

My replacement valve body was OEM. Parts covered under Goodwill warranty I paid a few hundred for labor.

My 2015 QX70 has only 50K miles (you read that right) and just this year I've spent $5K in repairs, only to be told I will soon need to replace the timing mechanism gasket for another $3K+. This is ridiculous, this car should be near bulletproof for at least 80K miles and probably more. I'm seriously considering selling it and moving on with a Lexus or, for that matter, Mazda or Toyota. Enough!

I hear you. The total out of pocket repairs (rear subframe, control valve assembly unit, a/c, and crack radiator) the last three years cost me about $5K, Infiniti Goodwill covered half…Grand total $10K. 🤦🏻‍♂️. My QX70 is paid off that is why I haven’t sold or traded it yet. I was told by the service representative, the repairs I had done are known issues. I do think about what will break next.

Found out after making the video, a crack in the plastic around the radiator caused coolant loss.
