Hi. I used to have fx 35 for 7 years andI admit the sound was spectacular. I loved the car. I bought a week ago fx 50s and i have no complains for the sound. This is true pleasure to drive. Performance, sound, handling all great. Even the dashboard does not feel outdated. I feel great in this car. I am So angry they stopped it. There is nothing like it on the market. If anybody looking for one go for it as there is not many decent left.

I love this car so much, I have the 2009 FX35. All I can say is, this car is an adrenaline rush on wheels. The exhaust sound, road feel, engine feel, just everything is A+. It is crazy different from my 2008 Lexus ES350 which was smooth in every way, a definite highway cruiser. One thing I have to say, this is the SUV for someone who doesn't want to give up a sedan. I really wasn't looking forward to getting an SUV, this thing has made the transition phenomenal. Coming from my Lexus which was great for passing the miles in ultimate comfort and plushness, I've learned that you HAVE TO RESPECT THIS SUV. It is a completely different animal being so extremely connected to the road. I frequently find myself driving a lot faster than I ever did in the Lexus. Yes it's fun, but I frequently catch myself needing to slow down. I never expected an SUV to have this kind of soul. Thank you very much for the review!

I saw the first generation FX35 back around 04-05 in Southern Ontario. Literally everything on the road was a box on wheels while this thing looked like an alien spaceship. I told myself in 10 years all vehicles will look like this coupe suv. The fact that a 2021 Porsche cayenne taillight and shape looks identical to the first generation FX, tells you how advanced and ahead of their time INFINITI was back in the early to mid 2000's. Nissan their parent company made the first affordable EV from the ground up back 12 years ago and now EV crossovers are the hottest segment coming!

I have a 17’ QX 70S I would recommend the Ark Exhaust which gives you the sound of the FX. I also upgrades my air filters to the AEM wash & dry (no oil). I’m looking into some more power.

Great informative video! I just went from a 2012 G37S Sedan to a 2015 QX70S, also due to needing more space and having a 1yr old (I've also had a 2012 370Z convertible and a 2006 g35 coupe 6spd in my past!). I went with the S package as I liked the stitched seats with the leg extenders more than the limited trim, even tho the limited trim does have some nice taillights and wheels! I also liked that the S came with paddle shifters from factory too. I've only had it for a week but already planning the mods very similar to your list: - K&N Filters - LEDs for the interior and license plates + reverse bulbs - Red GTR button - ARK Exhaust - Tune and down the line maybe a big brake kit and some suspension mods.... Keep the videos coming man, great overview of the QX70 and they're definitely overlooked but it looks like since they're dropping in price, more people are buying them used and modding them at these prices!! P.S. Time to update your outro clip to a new one with the QX70 :D

hey man, sounds like a very similar path to me. I've had a couple Z's one roadster one coupe, G35 coupe, G37 sedan, then went back to the G37 coupe while also having 2 FX35s in the mix during those (along with a couple Miatas an a 4G Eclipse GT) but all way before I was doing videos. I still dream about 2 of the cars I should never have sold, but oh well life goes on. 2 kids later and driving the QX70 daily I don't miss the sports car life. I also plan on doing the red Akebonos when it's time for a brake job. Yep GTR button is a must, had it on my G37 forgot to switch it back before I sold it. Just upgraded the subwoofer and did a video on that. Also just had some vinyl work, some subtle chrome delete and color matching - video to come. Picked up a Nismo exhaust so will get that put on some time. Was gonna do paddles, but after driving one they felt in the way for me as I wasn't used to them so gonna hold off on that. I do plan on upgrading at least the parking lights to LEDs, but may go 6k on the HIDs like I did on my previous cars (while I'm in there) That's stuff to come, but just enjoying it in the meantime!

@@GQ37official Do you plan on doing the Akebono BBK? or just the pads? Also any reason why you chose the Nismo exhaust over the ARK? I know it must be much cheaper but wondering if you think it sounds better? Looking forward to a vide on that and your thoughts on the sound / fit of it. Paddles in my opinion are definitely fun once in a while when you want to feel the sportiness haha Also do you plan on doing any tunes once you're all done with any power mods? I hear that here in california tunes are becoming illegal, if thats the case i dont care im still doing it and will have the stock tune ready during inspections haha

@@kingcobra3854 hey yea just got the nismo installed on the QX70 about a week ago and love it, it's exactly what I was after and will be doing a video on that as soon as the weather cooperates. (it's raining daily here in my part of FL) Decided against the paddles for now, just kinda of in the way for my daily driving. Surprisingly not missing my 6 speed manual at all (at least in this suv variant) just putting it in DRIVE after a 13+ hour shift and going home has been nice. When it's time for a brake job I'll probably swap over to red akebonos like I had on my G37, but not until then. Been there done that with tunes on my G37, but don't plan on doin any additional power mods so won't be tuning this one, but lots of other little cosmetic stuff I'll be doing so more videos to come!

I used to own a 2007 Infiniti FX35. Fully loaded. Did a lot of work on it and held it for 15 years till I sold it last year with 160k on the ODO. I love that car and terribly missed it.

@@stsgal 160 miles. Those engines are super reliable. The only reason. I let go is my cost of gas being my daily driver for my work commute of 70miles a day. Average gas consumption is 18mpg in comparison to my new ride of 27-28 mpg.

Absolutely. Back when our first kid was born I traded my wife's Mitsubishi Eclipse on a first gen 2007 Infiniti FX35 and that worked great as our family vehicle for about 4 years even taking family trips. When we decided to have another kid that was when we traded it for a 3 row SUV just to have more trunk space as my wife's vehicle. For my music I use the qx70 and fold the seats down to haul my equipment, but even for around town shopping with 2 car seats in the back we still take my qx70 a lot with no issues. Hope that helps.

Hey Chris, I recently came across some of your videos, and I think they're awesome! I just subscribed. Anyway, I still own my modified '15 Q50 3.7 Premium RWD that has an optional navigation in the 8" upper screen + a few other minor options... I still love the car, but for work, I might be moving to a place that gets a lot of snow... I'll at the least probably want an AWD crossover. A fully loaded, minus the 21" wheels - 2016-2017 QX70 3.7 AWD with the 20" wheels and low miles are what I'm looking to buy. I prefer the 2016-2017 models because my Q50 is a 2015, and I want my next Infiniti to be a newer model year. Ok, I'm ready to watch this now. I paused the video at the start to type this first. Awesome. I love my qx70. No regrets getting it. I ended up buying a 350z to putt around it and drove to work to keep the miles off my ax, but I’d buy the qx70 again in a heartbeat. That’s why I got the last year they made with the least amount of miles I could find. I need to do a 3+ year ownership video now.

Adding an x-pipe to the exhaust may give it a little more sound and will definitely increase performance as well.

Chris if you're not pre-wired I ended up getting a Wire harness for my 09 g37 coupe and added paddle shifters, I got from this guy on Infiniti scene forum if you don't have your own setup already to do the job it was plug and play and been driving spirited every since.

Yea man I just gotta take my steering column cover off sometime and check. Found the paddle shifters second hand when I get ready, but they don't come with the screws so hopefully I can find some to fit

@@GQ37official the first time I attempted my paddle shifters I thought I was pre-wired and that ended not being the case but got the nuts and bolt from Nissan they were about $28 which were ridiculous for some nuts and bolts was just about to give up on that mod and ended up finding this guy I believe you can search REX kit and it should come up and when he sent the harness he also sent the nuts and bolts as well so it ended up working out and I returned old ones back to Nissan. You will need to get the shroud too so paddles can past through.

I honestly thought I'd miss my G after owning 2 350z's a G35 and 2 G37's, but can say that I don't. It's a little heavier, but the trade-off of sitting higher being able to see around traffic better and haul a lot more stuff is definitely worth it to me. But having owned two first gen fx35s and now the second gen in the QX70 form I definitely say go for a second gen FX/qx if at all possible!

Coming from a G35 and Nissan Murano, I now have a FX37S and the thing I like the most is I average 20.2 MPG in Los Angeles it's better on gas than the cvt trans with a 3.5! I think it's because of the VVEL and the cvt in the Nissans make the car drag when pulling off.

Yea the cvt is garbage I wish they would do away with it. Love the look of the new qx55 but they're putting the cvt in that too so staying away from them till they get they're act together.

@@TooCoolTayveion wow. Infiniti has lost touch. It's unfortunate that the company that made the fx35-qx70 and G35, G37 and even now the Red Sport q50/q60 is doing stuff like 2.0 cvt. Honestly I think the FX35 was ahead of it's time. It started it's own niche that now other manufactures are leaning into and it's influencing so much design in the modern cross over segment. But pretty much all other crossovers outperform the current Infiniti. Previously they had the looks and some power to go with it, a lot if you had an fx50. But now it's just looks and that's debatable. (I still think the qx70 looks better, I just wish it had the integrated DRL headlights of the new ones) All in all, I hope Infiniti wises up and puts their existing 3.0 turbo engine into an suv, would be great if they would bring back a new 3rd gen QX70 and put it in that....then they can do an S version with the 400 Red Sport tune. Hey, I can dream.....

I don't know any after market ones, but with the right amount of $$ the dealership may be able to add OEM options. 🤷‍♂️ The only feature I really wanted is the cooled / ventilated seats and it has that so I'm good 💪

How did you paint those awful side air vents? One of the only reasons I wouldn’t purchase one of these they look tacky with the chrome which so why I was looking for a 2008 fx35.

I didn't have to, this is the Limited Edition (only made in 2017) that came with body colored side vents which to me is the way they all should be. Another option though is to vinyl wrap them black which is what a lot of people do. I vinyl wrapped my chrome door handles and some other chrome trim in a later video.

Good to see you again Chris. How's the work, family and music? I believe the Infiniti stopped making the second gen in 2017? I would like the V8 version of this vehicle and add a supercharger to that engine! My wife and I are both vaccinated and waiting for our second shots. I got the Moderna and the Janine got the Pfizer and Quebec pushed the second shot to July although now that all the vaccine mfgs are pushing their vaccines it may be sooner. I'm taking my G out of winter storage on Monday as today is a holiday and everything that wasn't already closed is closed....LOL! I have a 2018 BMW X1 modified inside and out with larger summer wheels and a software upgrade similar to Dinan and increased the power. I have sport dampers and lots of goodies. The newer one for 2021 is even nicer....and they dropped the price by over $7K because of stiff competition...Mazda CX-5 and a few others.... I the one thing that I don't like about the new Ford Mustang E is the weird portrait position fo their screen which in my opinion is wrong because everyone is used to landscape more...laptops, TV's computer screens. Beside if you make a hard right turn or if you're turning on an on ramp clover leaf (highway) your front passenger's knee will hit the bezel of the screen as their body slides over! Your QX has presence. I think that Infiniti invented the Sport back SUV without realizing it cause after that Land Rover came out with Evoque (much slower and it's a Land Rover so you know what's going to happen...) and the Porsche Macan and a few others now like the Jag. I really like the look of this vehicle. There's an aftermarket grill available that looks like a snarling mouth with large teeth and the lights look like angry eyes. The tail lights are cool, they look like horse shoes. Janine and I weren't able to get down to our second home in Cape Harbour, Cape Coral however I'm sure that will change by November. As you know Cape Coral is home to apparently the largest Kia dealer in the US...and the owner gives away free cruises on certain models....One of my close friend's who bought a Kia Sorento about 3 years ago. The newer one's are even nicer now....In 2018 I went in to Fort Myers (South Cleveland) to test drive the new Mercedes C43 AMG Coupe and was completely disappointed by the way the car performed and handled. It has the same look curvy design especially from the side as the G37 Coupe and has two somewhat usable seats in the rear and has a nice interior however the handling and performance didn't compare to my G...yup, I was actually thinking....you know what..... So after that I'm still wondering what to do because it's going to be hard bringing two vehicles to Florida each winter....Even with the Auto Train...they don't allow pets....I'm waiting to see what electric or hybrid vehicle Infiniti comes out with and also the Q60 has been out since 2014/15 and is due for a complete change. Remember the Q60 has the same chassis, transmission, brakes and in my opinion I prefer my interior as the seats have the logo embossed the the dual screen software is sketch. The only difference is the TT 3.0. In fact the first year it had the same engine...and the TT has been reengineered due to problems. When I was in the market for a new Sport SUV coincidently we were invited by Infiniti to the official 1st North American unveiling of the QX50 but after when I found out that it has a CVT and configured the same as an X1 it's actually a lot more $$$. Hopefully you'll be back to touring with your band in the south where we can watch a concert near Fort Myers. Enjoy the ride and stay safe!

Yep, QX70 last year was the 2017 for the US Market so that's the newest one I could get here. V8 dropped in 2014 unfortunately and all the FX50's I could find were 2009 at the time I was looking. All good here, thankfully our numbers are falling quite a bit and I'm back to playing gigs again pretty regularly! :)

@@GQ37official cool 😎feature...! Carbon fiber? Smart Cruise doesn't work well in the rain. I changed my exhaust to an Invidia Genesis Cat Back exhaust with Titanium Tips. A few guys on FB page mfg headers and other pipes. I didn't like the sound in my Bimmer so I added Pioneer Tweeters over the corner mirror bezels and a Pioneer Powered Sub under the hidden portion of the trunk and attached it with industrial velcro. The sub comes with a remote that fits in your coinbox which features volume, EQ and active cross-over. I was able to balance the sound using the volume and tone controls with the existing speakers and for a really inexpensive setup a huge improvement in sound quality. This may very well work for you too.

I have a G35 6 speed. I test drove a 2017 QX50 (3.7) recently and I didn't find it to be engaging enough - probably because I'm used to sitting lower, plus the manual. Do you think the FX/QX70 is more fun and engaging than the QX50 (referring to the EX based one, not the new one)? I just saw an FX50 pop up online and I think it might be a good replacement...

I haven't driven the EX/Qx50 so it's hard to say but I find the FX/qx70 line very engaging and fun to drive, even with the auto trans. however, the fx50 takes it to a whole other level and to me is more run than a G35 and way more practical so if you have a chance to drive one I highly recommend it! Also, side note and totally unrelated to driving, but I get way more compliments on this Qx70 than I did any of my Gs or Z's...I think it's the demographic that is attracted to them ....don't get me wrong, my Gs and Z's turned heads and got stares at red lights, but very few said anything. Perhaps the fx/qx just attracts a more mature audience that isn't ashamed to give a nod to the vehicle/owner, but in the past 2 months it's been funny to see the difference...no regrets!

And don't get me wrong, the EX/QX was not boring by any means, but it just didn't quite do it for me, can't put my finger on it. I'm sure at the very least the V8 of the FX50 would more than make up for that feeling haha. Also that's interesting about the attention you're getting. I guess it makes sense though because the FX styling is really like nothing else. It's ballsy and unique with its curves and design

People can't believe it's a 2017, not that 2017 is old, but when you think about that body style being 2009-2017 and still looking as good as any 2021 out there it speaks for itself. Yea I feel you on it sitting higher and it's definitely different than a G. I had a break in period though, I had bought the '08 fx35 I fixed up here on the channel last fall while I still had my G37 coupe and over the 3+ months I found myself driving the FX more and more and just decided to sell both and get a newer one, I think that had a lot to do with the switch for me. Drive the FX50....even if you still like your G better I think you'll be hard pressed not to like the fx50 WAY better than the ex/qx50 !

@@GQ37official it's a beautiful vehicle, your spec especially. I think it's kind of a love it or hate it design because of how "extravagant" it is, but I'm definitely a fan. That's also a good point about just getting used to it. It's possible I'm clinging to what I'm used to and what I'm comfortable with. And honestly, I don't even have to get rid of the G, it's so old at this point (03) that it's not like it has much resale. It's different enough with RWD and the 6 speed that I could justify keeping it around for a while. Also, I'll have to check out your series on the FX!

Not as good as my wife's CX-9, but surprisingly not much worse than my G37 (probably cause I kept my foot in it) Most of my driving is highway commuting, 23mpg hwy but my average is, 21mpg mixed city hwy. With current gas prices I'm glad I didn't get the FX50 now 😆 Best part though is the 23gal fuel tank with a soldi 520+ mile range

yea mine was there, it just didn't hit as hard the the oem spare tire sub in either of my previous 1st gen FX's or my G37. @@GQ37official overnight my hand sanitizer spilled on the heated seat button option area on g37 & alcohol inside the handsanitizer messed up the plastic by the morning when I checked it. Do u know a fix to that ?

Nah it was working, its a common complaint with 2nd gen FX. Some people might not notice if they've never owned older Infiniti but if you came from a first gen or in my case several other Infiniti models all of them had a better sounding sub. Sorry I'm speaking generically here as blind spot and lane departure are part of the same package in my other vehicle. My '08 fx had lane departure, and adaptive cruise as part of the tech package, I assumed the newer ones added blind spot, but maybe qX70 doesn't have that option on any trim?

This car is underrated! Not too many on the road either. I'm in the market for one right now but so far I haven't had any luck on one with low miles. Also what's up with those trees looked like that area was hit by a tornado.😂

Yep love these vehicles. As far as the trees that's called, Hurricane Michael... 2.5 years later the scars of a Cat 5 storm are still very prevalent around Panama City. 😞

Nope, they're RWD unless you get an awd model (G37x and FX /qx70 with awd) Otherwise they're all RWD.

I guess it depends on where you live. American made Dodge, Chevy, GM and Ford are mostly what is in my area. But I live in the south (aka land of big jacked up pick up trucks) but I've never been a fan a of most American cars. Growing up a lot of my family had Dodge products and kept having serious transmission issues with each vehicle right after warranty would run out. Once my parents switched to Toyota they didn't have any more issues. In addition to the quality difference in Japanese cars I tend to prefer the design language of imports. When I was old enough to drive I looked at Japanese cars and never looked back

You right on about dependable, but it took then a while to get dependable into then , I remember the luv truck by japan when they reach around 80 000 they would break the timing belt and shortly their after they had trouble with the tranny , as for the trucks in your area with those big nosiey tires and the center of gravity to the moon , never made much sense why those good old boys want to do that oh well different strokes for different folks.

@@louisalmarez2157 yea for sure. The big thing right now is for the trucks to be lifted in the front and not in the rear, so it looks like it's popping a wheelie. Looks ridiculous 🤣 But like you said, different strokes for different folks. On another note I also really was considering Porsche or alpha Romeo SUVs before this one, but the closest dealerships are 2-3 hours away (for warranty work) and just didn't want to deal with the overall maintenance costs after that. I'm more comfortable with Japanese repair costs than European 😳 I think the 2nf gen fx/Qx70 looks just as good and I have no regrets. I gets a lot of looks from Mercedes drivers ironically

@@GQ37official Yes the Qx70 is a real piece of work and affordable if you can get it in a V8 @ 400 hp let me tell you if your doing 60 mph and hit passing gear you better hold on cause its fast.
