off subject.. i1500 ...what would be best pipe and size for mounting ?

I used 1.5" sch40 steel plumbing pipe and it wasn't quite right...that stuff is about 48mm ID and the stub on the i1500 is 40mm if I recall correctly. I think the best thing to do would be to get whatever size you can find conveniently that's larger and then have someone 3D print you a sleeve to adapt the stub to the pipe. That's what I was going to do with my i1500 before we swapped over to the i2000.

I'm going to use a Sunny Boy string inverter to burn it off, but I'm going to be using a custom built controller to regulate voltage and brake the machine in higher winds. That's going to be the interesting part, I'll have a video on that when I have it assembled.

@@ToysforWatts I see. The slip ring on this 4k unit, same as the 2k? I imagine that is so, shorting it to stop the unit might not hold up... Scarry moments trying to stop my 2k. When the blades make that roar and the neighbors come outside wondering if the world is coming to an end 😆.

I can't actually tell what the slip ring on the Heli 4 looks like unfortunately, I'd have to take the thing apart to see it. I'm hoping it's something heavier because it's certainly going to be hit with a hell of a lot more voltage lol

Dont Wallmart carry the super cheap welders these days? Basically all are digital now and dont just burn up haha. How much you still need to start the build?

Still about $150 or so shy, it's mostly the concrete for the footers and hardware and welding...trying to hold off investing in the littler stuff until I know for sure whether or not I'm going to have to buy a meaner welder. My walmarts don't carry the little welders, but I got a harbor freight here and their cheap little welder is the one I go for. I really push those things way outside their intended purpose and they tend to hold up well, just a little weak for this kind of welding (which I don't weld this heavy gauge).

@@ToysforWatts On my old welder I stuck some PC server fans on it. Loud as hell but increased its runtime dramatically. I run multiple beads if the material is thicker. 45 the edges with a grinder etc. Never had any real issues doing it that way with a smaller welder. Cant justify the cost of a bigger one since its always stuff below 10mm. Think mine is a 160amp mig and 200amp for tig/stick or something like that. Digital chinesium special. That stuff has come a long way for the backyard engineer to be honest.
