Istanbul City Card for Tourists: How and Where to Get Your Istanbul City Card

The Istanbul City Card has been offered for sale as of September 1 for tourists visiting Istanbul. In this video, I show how and where you can get the Istanbul City Card, its prices, and the services it offers. I also show comparison between Regular Istanbul Card and Tourist Istanbul City Card with key benefits, advantages and disadvantages.
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) announced that as part of the project started with the vision of making the city the capital of tourism, it will be easier for foreign guests to tour Istanbul and go from one point to another. The card, which will be offered with a guiding route and guide kit for visitors, also serves as a souvenir card with six different designs.
The card includes unlimited transportation rights for 1 to 15 days and the option of a tourist bus tour. Ticket machines where the cards can be obtained are located in more than 30 places where tourists are concentrated.
Owners of the Istanbul City Card can visit Istanbul's most visited places with IMM's double-decker buses in the 'Hop on-Hop off' service, which is the first option. They can continue their journey for 24 hours with the new ring at the next stop by getting off at any point they want.
In the other option, unlimited passage rights are provided in Istanbul's public transportation according to the preferred number of days. Desired services can be loaded onto the tourist card, and a timed subscription can also be obtained in addition to the ring service.
Soon, opportunities such as entry to museums affiliated with Kültür AŞ and Bosphorus tours with City Lines will be added to the Istanbul City Card.

I bought this Istanbul City Card and tried to go on the hop on hop off bus “busforus” but they said, it is not allowed. I bought the 3 days unlimited but never went onto the hop on hop off bus. Kinda frustrating.

I am hearing lots of complaints about it. The municipality doesn't seem to be prepared for the implementation of this card. I am sharing two links. In the first one, it says that istanbul city card holders can use hop-on hop-off buses operated by the Municipality. In the second link, it clearly says that Municipality operates the Busforus buses. Can you show it to the bus operators and ask for more information. @@BurakUnal1even the guys from the Taksim Metro station doesn’t know about it. I even showed them the information written in the machines. Seems like those information were to entice the tourists from buying the 3 day pass worth 80 TL as compared to the ICC worth 600TL.

I am not sure. There are machines that sell regular istanbul card. But, i am not sure about istanbul city card.

Yes, you can take the M4 metro from Sabiha Gokcen Airport. You go to the Ayrilik Çesmesi Station and transfer to Marmaray. You can use the regular istanbul card or istanbul city card for that route.

I would go to besiktas from fulya by bus. Then i would take a ferry to uskudar. Vice versa for the return

Unfortunately though, the card does not work (which is very irritating as I paid for the 3 day card) and it appears no one is able to advise regarding who I should approach to resolve the situation. When trying to use it, the scanning machines insinuate there's insufficient credit loaded on- however I was under the impression that the cards do not require credits/top ups- rather that they're simply valid for a time period.

Very strange. There are istanbul municipality offices at taksim station and at mecidiyekoy cevahir mall. You can visit them for the problem. I am sharing a link of municipality, they clearly say that the card can be used for all public transport in the city for free: istanbul.com/about-city/general-information-about-istanbul-card

Hop on and hop off Busses don't accept Istanbul ciry card and want to charge me extra 1350 TRL. On the automat is writen that with Istanbul city card i can go to cisterns but there also charge me 600 TRL for person. In the end my opinion is that Istanbul city card is piece of garbage that cost you 357 TRL for using only public transport for one day. And in the end with Istanbul city card you can't use the public toilets.
