It’s wonderful how no matter where you go a piece of your kitchen is with you. Whether it was bringing lunch that you made or being excited to make marmalade when you found the bitter oranges, your Turkish kitchen is always there. Thank you for the lovely tour of the Princess Islands ❤

What a beautiful day you have spent with your daughter! I enjoyed every single moment of the beautiful scenes. The bitter oranges are called “Seville Oranges” and true they are used to make marmalade. The ferry ride , the historical buildings and the country side are all so great. I really enjoy your videos Aysenur. Take care and God Bless🌹Greetings ❤️🇲🇹😍

Hi Aysenur. It was great to see the tour of you and Zaynab in Princess Island. I’d highly recommend it too for people to visit when they are in Istanbul. When we went they still had the horse drawn carriages. I hope you and your family and keeping well.

In my neighborhood in Piraeus we are full of these trees... In spring when they are in full bloom their fragrance is wonderful, you enjoy every step walking in the alleys... And when the fruit is ripe, we collect it and make sour orange marmelade or spoon sweets, in the fruit's syrup, great to eat it with our afternoon coffee or over yogurt. We call them "nerantzi", and the name in Spanish is similar to the Turkish name, "toronja".
@TFT10 ай бұрын
That’s interesting thanks for sharing. How do you make the marmalade can you shortly tell?
@fafasedareborn450210 ай бұрын
@@TFT here it goes. you will need 10 nerantzi. put in the stove 2 pots and boil water. wash the the fruit well and scrap lightly the skin, to get rid of some of the bitterness. wash again the fruit (normally now will have some of the orange skin and the white one) and put them in one of the pots with boiling water. when it starts boiling again, leave them for 10 minutes, afterwards, you pass them to the second pot with boiling water and leave them to boil till they are soft, about half an hour. strain them and leave them in a pan so they cool, afterwards, cut the fruit, discard seeds, fibres and the hard white parts and blend the fruit to make a pulp. weigth the pulp and put it in a pot together with the same amount of sugar. cover the pot and leave for 24 hours so the juices blend with the sugar. put the pot in the stove, add half a teaspoon of grinded clove and boil the fruit, mixing continuously with a wooden spoon, until it has the marmelade texture you want (i like it firm, not watery) and you add, if you want 200 grams roasted almonds cut in stripes. mix well and the rest is as usual with marmelades. sterile jars and lids, you put them upside down till they are completely cold. the fragrance of this marmelade is out of this world. good luck if you make it!

Citrus fruit (and other fruit) is ripe and ready for picking when it comes loose easily in you hand. If you have to pull like that, the taste and nutrition have not fully developed yet because it is still somewhat unripe.
