camelpissflavour, sorry your wrong! The blue mosque has always been a mosque. It's the Hagia Sophia opposite to the blue mosque that used to be an orthodox Greek Church, then got converted into a mosque and today is a museum.

Been there several times and it still feels magical. I once went in a very cold night and it snowed and there was hardly anyone there infact I think it was only me for a brief moment and there was no noise except the birds singing and I stood the contemplating the architecture but somehow it felt I time travelled back and saw people in the court yard socialising with their robes and scholars discussing religious matters and miliarty formation and then the call for prayer went, it was epic.

I remember visiting this Blue Mosque, the story was that one of the six towers, the one closest to Mecca, was filled with gold, precious jewels, and other wondrous treasure. Dunno if that was true or not. Turkey was such a fun place to be tho, the government, at least in the 80's, was secular, and while sometimes a bit of Sharia crept into some the backwoods areas, it was only to behead a child rapist, or something like that.

Fun fact 🇦🇱❤🇹🇷 Sedefkar Mehmed Agha who was the architect of the Blue Mosque was an Albanian. Search up, Devshirme Sedefkar Mehmed Agha Albanian, and it will say "Mehmed Agha was born around 1540. According to the biographer Cafer Efendi, he was believed to have been originally from the city of Elbasan in what is now Albania. He brought to Istanbul in 1563 as a "Devshirme" to join the janissary corps or palace schools."

As a Christian, I can tell you this architecture is beautiful. Having said that, if you read the Bible, nowhere will you find any mandate for Christians to build buildings or monuments. The first Christians worshiped in their own homes, or in the streets, and elsewhere. It was the Catholic church that invented the idea of spending a fortune in giant temple like building they called "cathedrals". But the word cathedral is also not in the Bible.
