Enjoyed this presentation.....Rick Steves is not only a great travel enthusiast, teacher, author and guide, he is absolutely so funny! Glad we got to the Chinque Terra before it was overrun with tourists. Also, have traveled to the Czech Republic and it was wonderful...so much history! In addition was able to travel to many other European countries. I've written my memoirs about our travels on our own or with little known travel agencies that were excellent with local knowledgeable guides. My dream to travel began as did Ricks...when I was quite young. In order to make my travel dreams a reality....I worked a second job in my adulthood.... working full time during the day and every evening part time with a cleaning agency....cleaning beautiful offices and suites..... making a count down chart of the days ahead to the realization of my travel dreams....My memoir although not published is entitled..."To Europe on a dust mop" without that mop and determination, I would not have realized my dream. I LOVE how farmers in rural areas begrudge “government handouts” for people in urban areas but yet they “subsist” on them and dont pay practically ANY taxes in general OR for the land and properties they get to call their own!! “Conservatism” is just code for good ole fashioned GREED and making the poor people pay to supplement YOUR lifestyle and public goods and services YOU benefit off of through sales taxes or VAT!!

Why dont you point out that one of the cantons didnt give women the right to vote till nineteen NINETY ONE!!! And most others only gave women the right to vote in the SEVENTIES!!

I have never been to anywhere outside India, had dreamt of places like that shown in videos, but with life already halfway through the season of my late adulthood it’s hard to imagine a visit to this side of Europe. What attracted me most was your ever smiling face. For me it’s just a wait of winter’s ascent when no more of autumn’s sunshine comes to the window of my garden.

I devoured Through the Back Door years before my first trip to Europe, when actually going there was still a dream for me. Since then I have been many times, but never without some ripped-out portion (as per Rick's recommendation) of one or more of his books. I have also been several times to his Travel Festivals in Edmonds. This man's travel advice is invaluable and his enthusiasm is contagious. So much good advice, but among the best is his statement: "There are two types of travelers in Europe - those who have packed light, and those who wish they had." So true. I traveled an entire week one time - from Paris to Rome and back - with only a daypack. Seriously. I washed clothes in sink every night and had everything I needed. Thank you so much, Rick. I could not have done it without you.

I drove across Wiltshire in a van with the farmer who owned some of the land/livestock at Avebury who would tell funny stories. I also had the chance to renovate, upkeep cottages in the Cotswolds myself. Having moved from the Netherlands to here, i cant express enough how lucky i feel to live and work in the shires.

I don’t know how to say this, geez, I guess… WE HAVE IT SO WRONG. The Tomb of Abraham is a sacred site for ALL OF US, Christians as well. Why we are treating the resting place of someone God held in such high regard, so violent and hateful, that is just sacrilegious. We are likely continually disappointing our FATHER by acting in such barbaric and immature ways. A Jewish man k|lling Muslims or a Muslim k|lling Jewish people… disgusting and evil, demonic. We need to WAKE UP, my brothers and sisters.
