First of all, this is the one and only complete, updated (2021) ISTQB foundation tutorial in youtube. Please can you explain little more about exploratory testing and test charters, unless I would be able to learn those in up coming chapters?

Are the videos enough to pass the ISTQB exam? Is is it necessary to purchase a book? What's your recommendation?

Hi Murat, The videos will be enough with the official syllabus is recommended to pass the exam. As official syllabus will give you all the details. As, all the points are discussed in the videos and there are 1000s other who have mentioned as feedback that the videos where enough for them to pass, still I will recommend it to refer the syllabus side by side for effective preparation. Book is just optional as there are many across the globe who prefer to learn from a book. All the Best and Happy Learning!!

Hi Here you have mentioned that "test summary report" is one of test monitoring and control work products, as well as test summary report, had been mentioned as one of test completion work products. So, are both summary reports refer to the same document or not?

Hi Thiraj, Generally the Test summary report(TSR) is not prepared once at the end. TSR keep gathering data from Test Progress Report(TPR). That's were each TPR contributes to create the TSR.

You listed a lot of documents in this chapter. but it looks like these docs in their entirety are applicable to Waterfall model. I have been working as QA for 10+ years by now and I haven't seen that ALL of them were used. In your experience did you (or your team members) write and/or use ALL that you mentioned. If yes, can you please provide (of course excluding secure information) the FULL set of all mentioned documents? Thank you

Hi Marina, You're absolutely right by saying that. Yes, ISTQB follows a traditional approach to explain foundation level exam syllabus as they have a separate certification for agile. When it comes to documentation non of the org creates all the documents mentioned here as it could be quite hectic to manage them. Thus, Org A may create say doc 1, 3, 5, 7 and Org B may create say doc 2, 4, 6, 8. But, when it comes to understanding a process and when you talk about fundamentals ISTQB wants to give a clarity on all the documents.

I have one doubt that under Test Implementation among test processes for the previous slide of part 1 you mentioned activities like automating test suites but Isn't it so that for Test automation the complete test process steps are different and here we are talking about general testing process right ?

You are absolutely correct. And there is a separate certification to talk about Test Automation process. When we talk about foundation we are just fitting automation activities within the process at Test Implementation.

Hi Neeraj, Creating bi-directional traceability metrics was mentioned under Test Design in last video but here it is mentioned in Test Analysis phase. Can you please clarify which phase work product is that?

It's a work product of Test Design as it is built there and updated with information in Implementation.

Hi Neeraj, In this video regarding the Test Process, I don't understand one thing. How or why monitoring and control phase comes before the implementation and execution phase? Especially for Testing Metrices which focuses on calculating the Test Execution Rate, the required data like the Number of test cases executed and Number of Test cases planned for execution won't be available until the process is in execution phase. Can you please elaborate more on this? Thanks !!

Hi Sharad, It's more about planning that at what milestones we will monitor(Monitoring schedule), how will you monitor (Metrics) and how will you control the known deviations (Control). For sure we will do the evaluation at respective phases but how to evaluate will happen early in the lifecycle. Hope this clarifies.

This playlist is on 3.1 however 70-80% content is same so you can refer. Parallelly, refer the official syllabus copy for the same to get the remaining topic. I am going to start the 4.0 series from Nov 9 but in India 4.0 exam will be rolled out from May 2024. All the best!!

Hi Hetal, I am yet to publish my book thus can't recommend you that. Further, the best book so far is "Foundations of Software Testing" by Dorothy Graham. This was the I referred to understand the concept during my certification.
