I just bought myself the extended cab version of the LS 1.9 and im literally in love with the bakkie, its so light on diesel averaging about 11.2 km/L and its towing capability honestly surprised me. That 1.9 diesel is a monster for the size. Great review to

I'm also looking at getting an auto extended cab bakkie, the options are between the Isuzu and Ford.

I have driven the 3.0 LS version and I think interms of practicality,efficiency and also pocket wise its the best in this segment 👌🏿.I'll go for an Isuzu DMAX any day.Great review by the way 🙌🏿🤝🏿

I have the Gen 7 AT 3.0 LS , after driving the Nissian Navara 2.5 XE for 9 years I found the 1.9 lacking even with the new advanced turbo, I prefer the lower revving 3 liter, fantastic bakkie which handles the beach and road alike with no problem, like you said not a fast bakkie but it suits my driving style perfectly, the interior does definitely feel more upmarket than my last bakkie, only problem I had is that the LS does not come with roof rails which I struggled to procure, eventually MTBA in Pretoria got a aftermarket version that can take load, overall a great bakkie.

Hi Pottie, For interest sake. Do you have the 4x4 or 4x2 version? Would the 4x2 be enough for a daily family vehicle and the occasional camp or fishing trips? I wouldn't be doing any 4x4ing and hardly ever go off road or on the rocky roads.

Hi Johann, I done a test drive on the 1.9 LS and the 3.0 LS and felt the major difference in power, though I think that is more to do with the fact that my previous Bakkie was the Nissan Navara 2.5 XE, so I chose the 3.0 A/T, love this Bakkie so much, the big problem I have is that I can’t find roof racks (cross bars) to carry my paddle boards (14 foot long) and Isuzu can’t provide me with roof rails as an extra accessory only the LSE and VCross come with rails, I have found a place in Australia that has cross bars that fit on to fixed pre drilled holes, does the LS have these holes or do you know where in SA I can get load bearing roof rails for the Gen 7. Thank you in advance.

Howsit Man! Have u tried Thule? They have all kinds of racks etc and specialise in that department. Thule roof racks💪🏻

@@johannpotgieter9182 Hi Johann, Thanks from the reply, I have tried everyone, Thule, Holdfast, 4x4 store, Mighty Thor Bakkie Accessories, Max Motorsports, Racers Edge etc, and scoured the Internet to the bone, even the dealership does not supply the rails as an optional extra as it is only fitted to the LSE and VCross models, none of the wings that fit the racks from Thule or Holdfast form into the door mouldings, the only ones I could find are made from hard plastic and are for cosmetic purposes only, I have found a company in Australia with cross bars made by Yakima that claim to fit the pre drilled holes under the rain drainage trim, waiting for a response wheater they ship to SA or if the set will even fit the Gen 7, BTW nice review on the LS 1.9, as I mentioned I found it too high revving for my style of driving and prefer the extra power that the 3.0 has which gives a more laid back and lower RPM drive, I have had my LS 3.0 A/T 4X4 for a year now and haven't looked back, though the new Isuzu Gen 7 is an excellent vehicle whatever motor size. Regards

I have the exact same model but not too happy with mine, I have been to several different tyre shops and they cant seem to get the balancing right 115kph to 128kph, also steering feels super light and shaky at speed even above or below where the balancing issue is also received it with a faulty battery which the dealer gave me grief about and did not replace(under 150km done). The rest seems fine, makes me wonder if the bakkie stood for a while at the factory. Glad to hear your experience is more positive

I'm a fan however a small engine in a big car will always hamper longevity, It's science. Coming from the 2.5 Dmax, I plan on an Isuzu with a 3.0 engine and manual transmission or nothing else from Isuzu. Automatics in a Bakkie are thirsty, confused and unresponsive, worse if you load it up, it'll jump between second and third gear every half a minute instead of using it's turbo to pull the load. Downside of Torque Convertor Autos especially from Asia. Only Germans are good for efficient, intelligent auto transmissions that'll power up the turbo if max boost is still available before slipping a gear.

I have the 3.0 auto and find even with a heavy load no problem with dropping gears, though I do use the manual mode (Tiptronic I tthink they call it) often in circumstances where I don't want a gear to drop while accelerating, mostly on the highway, but I will agree with you a Bakkie should not be less than a 2.5 L (I have never had a vehicle under 2.0)

Just remember what they said about the Amarok when it came out with a 2 Litre Engine. My 2010 model is about to clock in at 400 000km. No issues. Apart from AC!!

It's 4 cylinder and it's essentially a 2.0l and not 1.9! It's well balanced it will be fine. Also, this is much lighter than the previous model.

That beep sound from the key left in the ignition when you open the door is the worst thing. 1 beep will work

Did you have any problems with diesel quality in africa?
@johannpotgieter9182
@johannpotgieter9182 Жыл бұрын
Howsit dude, not really if Im honest. There is a sticker on the window saying Isuzu recommends low sulpher diesel but I have used the cheaper stuff also and didnt notice any difference to be honest. There might be an economy difference but the margin is so minimal and im always carrying different load capacity, driving in different weather conditions so it’s really hard to say if it makes a difference

@@johannpotgieter9182 Thank you for the information. I think about building an Overland Dmax but heard new diesels in general don't tolerate bad quality diesel at all. Is diesel in South Africa better quality than in west Africa?

@@jdexplores01 haha! Im not sure, I dont think its the quality of europe probably but in south africa it will be no problem for your car.
