They're twins under the skin - but which new dual-cab offering here is the better choice?
The new Isuzu D-Max and Mazda BT-50 have landed in Australian showrooms. To the casual observer, these utes have a passing resemblance, but the truth is they are identical under the skin, and are even built by Isuzu on the same Thai production line.
Look past the nose jobs and there is no mistaking the resemblance here. As a result of a new utility alliance between Isuzu and Mazda, the D-Max and the BT-50 share most common parts, a lot like the previous arrangement between the BT and the Ford Ranger.

I went to my local isuzu dealer and no one came near me, I was there 15, 20 minutes. Mazda as soon as I looked at a vehicle they came out plus they had 2 others test drive the same vehicle as I did while I was there.

If you are doing a mid spec comparison, why do you take one product with an optional extra and compare it to a stock, to only use it to call out a difference between the two , caused by the option.

Original is almost always best. When Mazda was underpinned by the Ranger, I preferred the Ranger. It looked better and was continually updated. Now that it is underpinned by the Dmax, I would easily take the Dmax. Again it looks better and Isuzu know what they are doing with their drive trains. On another note you wouldn't take a Toyota to get serviced by a Nissan workshop. Why would you take an Isuzu to a Mazda workshop?????

I would be happy to take the new Mazda BT50 to be serviced by Isuzu. Buying the Mazda , you get the best of the strengths of the two players. Isuzu proven track record of reliability and Mazda’s superior styling and fit out.

I'm picking up up one of these in Mazda guize soon and I might even take it to Isuzu to service instead of Mazda, or just to a good independent mechanic (if serviced to the book they cannot void your warranty if you take it elsewhere, that would create a monopoly for servicing) Jason's comment below causes me to lean towards Isuzu servicing

Dear followers, anyone who has bought a new ISUZU through a GM agency should start praying to God, the chance of receiving a fast and mechanically correct service, would be faster to receive from God. Be warned not to throw your money in the trash, share and pass on so others don't have to get screwed and eat shit.
