The composite engine cover at the rear of the cabin is for absorbing noise. It comes with roughly an inch of Glass-wool fitted on the inside. Additionally it protects the engine from the build up of dirt/debris or snow.

I'v never seen a NPR truck that had manual windows, Older versions maybe.. And no they could not put AWD on them trucks ( Offroad version yes )
