Blue Rag Range trig point track is a really spectacular drive and not challenging, there's some really nice free camping around the Buckland area, right on the river - caravan friendly. Lots of easy/gravel tracks around Mount Buffalo with heaps of waterfalls. Heaps to do and see around Dargo and Omeo too, looking forward to seeing where you go!

I hope you are able to recover some of your data. Suggestions in no particular order. Beechworth Bakery is a must stop. Mount Buffalo, Bright and/or Mount Beauty would be a good base to do day trips from. Omeo, great coffee, camping at Hinnomunjie Bridge. Good camping along the Mitta Mitta River. The Dargo Pub as a base to explore. Also, Mansfield, Howqua and Jamieson to name a few. Some of the Vic High country roads and surrounds are not caravan friendly eg. road into Suggan Buggan. However, a magnificent drive. Looking forward to this part of your journey. Enjoy your week.

If you haven’t re-used the reformatted card you can often recover the contents as the format is usually a quick format which just deletes the allocation table (the address book for the data) rather than the data itself. I would probably use Samsung SSD drives rather than anything that spins - you might not be able to do the advanced data recovery on them but then they’re generally harder to break. The normal data storage methods with hard disks are going to be a hard ask when they’re getting bounced around. You could try an external 2 drive enclosure that mirrors the data onto two disks and use enterprise hard drives so you have redundancy. Cloud backups are harder as I’m guessing the data is vast and upload speeds are your enemy for raw footage. If you can do it then Backblaze B2 is good as, rather than Google etc., it is their main business.

I'm looking at starting my lap early next year and will by myself my sons 13 & 10 with our 65kg 🐕. Any tips on travelling with a dog besides the stopping more often. Any advice for starting out full time travelling would be appreciated. Safe travels
@suelandolt6840 Жыл бұрын
That is super exciting news, congrats! When travelling with dogs make sure you plan accommodation ahead and have some cash in the kitty for any vet visits. Always plan where you can buy food for your big boy/girl as sometimes it's difficult when remote. Also use the dog filter to identify camps. If you are going to any pf the major tourist areas book dog care at least 2 or 3 months in advance. Make sure they have their tick and flea treatment and the grey seresto collar when in FNQ or north west. Travel is totally possible with a dog, it just requires more planning. Please feel free to reach out with any questions and enjoy the planning.

Payam Data Recovery could do it, may be who you spoke to but $1K is about right. Take a look at SSD storage, slightly higher cost per GB for same capacity however less prone to being physically damaged. Have multiple backups.
@iamrodos Жыл бұрын
Always awful when you lose data. Great approach to have a minimum of 2 copies with one being remote. With your StarLink you have the bandwidth and data to sync to some form of Cloud for cold storage. Remote is important not just for corruption. There is theft, fire or the ole fat figure of human error. SSDs may be more reliable for travel but they are still no guarantee of not losing data either.
