. The "white line" is the connection between the hard outer hoof wall and the softer inner hoof. It's actually called laminea. It's really visible in horses hooves. When you hear the illness, laminitis, that's the white line or the connection separating. It's incredibly painful and sometimes leads to having to euthanize the animal. Hope this helps.

How do the Amish treat their animals?
@cindyrissal36283 ай бұрын
@@kingrama2727they use them hard...often letting wounds happen due to lack of well-fitting harness & tack. They often don't feed them adequately & when the animal (lots of horses) get too old or arthritic to work hard anymore, the dump them in a kill pen/auction where they have a good chance of ending up in a slaughterhouse. Often I see Amish horses rescued from kill pens that have serious injuries & are lame & horribly thin. I've seen many, many of them. This is a widespread problem. I've lost any respect I used to have for Amish. The animals aren't living creatures to them...just tools.

I just spent 15K on my dog who had some bizarre abcess in his stomach that burst and he nearly died... But nope...MOST people care about their pets that much. Sadly some can't afford to pay that much for their pet(I do have Trupanion, so I will get MOST of that money back...get insurance for your pets so you don't have to choose rent/your pets lives).

Very interesting. I have spent the past few days watching these hoof care videos and had no idea what was involved when a cow or horse had hoof infection. In one of your videos you mentioned wild horses have a shorter life span. As a nurse I can imagine the hoof infection can go septic the same as an infection with a human. I also see why farmers are concerned immediatly when they see one of their animals all of a sudden limp. The issue could have started some time ago thus be worse than might be expected. I will never be involved with hoof animals but it gives me an appreciation of the skill you need and have developed in your profession. Thank you for posting these videos. They are very educational.
