Karlton's the restaurant is a great example of why you need an LLC and proper business liability insurance. Why the LLC will protect your personal assets your business can still be lost without insurance. In your example, if said restaurant had a GL insurance policy, the policy would have paid the $100k cost, and the business and owner still continue as normal.

KD in the example with the restaurant owner, all he had to do is pay the deductible for his general liability insurance, which any normal business owner operating a restaurant would have then the insurance will cover the cost of the injured customer and his business will continue operating as normal. It wouldn’t cost him a financial burden to close his doors.

At least in az it is easy to start an LLC so you do not need to hire anyone to help. At leastvto long as it's a single member LLC.

It’s changed now. They’re still fighting it but it’s no longer on pause. The last day to file is January 13, 2025

The BOI Report is currently on pause and no longer due January 13, 2025. Any reports submitted as of Dec. 26 and Jan 2nd are considered voluntary. Once the fifth circuit court hears this case again around March 2025 we'll hear a final ruling.
