The first thing a CNC programmer has to do before writing G-code is visualize the process. There is more than one way to run a part. Once you pick a process you are committed. Sometimes you wish you had done it another way. LOL

I am CNC programmer. I started as a operator with zero knowledge of CNC machines. Now, I'm designing and building parts and fixtures on my computer. Most satisfying job I ever had with great pay. My advice would be. Learn, learn and learn. As a operator understand what you running. Master what you running. Learn the print and understand the program. Move on to the next job and do the same thing. Watch the machine run, and reading read the program. Work hard and make more quality parts. Ask for more training and take on more responsibility. Everybody wants to be programmer, but only few people will get the opportunity to become one. Work hard to get the opportunity.

Hey Jiri. That is a great success story. You are absolutely right. It takes hard work and paying attention and using what you learn from each project on future processes. Thank for your feedback. Tom

Programming is easy, strategy is the hard part. Sometimes that's the wall that some can never make it over.

@@TomStikkelman one question? Why not do that job in three ops ?
@TomStikkelman5 жыл бұрын
Ryder 47 The operator is running multiple machines and so the cycle time allows him to do other operations in the mean time and it saves tool changes. When a tool is active it machines all stations reducing overal cycle time. If I had additional open spindles I would consider a 1 or 2 piece flow and increase the throughput but they are all busy so I believe I understand your thoughts on that

@@TomStikkelman I see, I'm not criticising just curious. If you get the same results there is no wrong way👍
