കേരളത്തിന്റെ ഐ.ടി. ഭൂപടത്തില്‍ അതിശക്തമായ സാന്നിധ്യമായി അതിവേഗം പടര്‍ന്നുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയാണ് കോഴിക്കോട്. നാനൂറില്‍ പരം കമ്പനികളിലായി പതിനായിരത്തോളം ഐ ടി പ്രഫഷണലുകള്‍ ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്നുണ്ട് കോഴിക്കോട്ട്. അഭ്യസ്ത വിദ്യരായ ചെറുപ്പക്കാരുടെ തൊഴിലില്ലായ്മ രൂക്ഷമായിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ കാലത്ത് കോഴിക്കോട്ടെ ഐടി മേഖല തുറന്നിടുന്നത് വിശാലമായ തൊഴിലവസരങ്ങളും പുതിയ സാധ്യതകളുമാണ്. എന്നാല്‍ ഐടി വികസനത്തിന് ആവശ്യമായ പശ്ചാത്തല സൗകര്യത്തിന്റെ അഭാവം ആ സാധ്യതയ്ക്ക് മങ്ങലേല്‍പ്പിക്കുകയാണെന്നാണ് ഐടി മേഖലയിലെ എല്ലാവരും ഒരു പോലെ പറയുന്നത്. എന്തൊക്കെയാണ് ആ അഭാവമെന്നും അതിനെ എങ്ങനെ മറികടക്കാമെന്നും പറയുകയാണ് കോഴിക്കോട്ടെ ഐടി മേഖലയിലെ തൊഴിലാളികളും ഉടമകളും.
IT Field in Kozhikode is fast becoming a dominant presence . About ten thousand IT professionals are working in more than four hundred companies in Kozhikode. At a time when the unemployment of the educated youth is getting worse, the IT sector in Kozhikode is opening up a wide range of employment opportunities and new possibilities.
But everyone in the IT sector agrees that the lack of infrastructure necessary for IT development is dimming that possibility. The workers and owners of the Kozhikode IT sector are saying what is that lack and how to overcome it

Instead of building an airport and IT park in every panchayath, the govt should focus on one or two IT centers and make it big. Focus on Infopark and Technopark. Make it big. Then focus on other places.

No infrssture in calicut, not much star hotels, no flight connectivity, narrow city roads and heavy traffic. No big IT companies (MNCs) will come to Calicut except some local companies.

It's Government responsibility to provide these facilities.The biases against Calicut is evident

@@ash90175 yes govt is biased, also some religious political group like Jamathe Islami and so on protest for any developments in Malabar, have seen this in Gail pipeline, nh66 expansion etc For developments it should get the support of local population To attract IT companies, there should be life style like Bangalore, Dubai etc (whether we like or not). South districts can easily do this but it is very difficult in Malabar region to be honest
