Longplay of the unreleased Sega Genesis version of It Came from the Desert.
This version is nothing like the original Amiga version, it's a completely different kind of game.
Even though it is unreleased, it seems finished... though it's very short.

I think there was one weapon you missed: a rapid fire green beam. Can't remember the components it needed, but it was only available once you got to the second half of the game (I think two of them were the Silver Rod and Gas Pump Circuitry). Though tbh, I didn't even know the laser and flamethrower weapons were even possible (I think I missed that one item from the beginning when I played this in my childhood)

Used to have this game played on Sega. It was a bit Longer, and msin character had headband red looked more like Rambo and in some conversations had this badass music thst is plsying here on backpack menu haha.

@RedH0plite And yes, it is the one with giant ants on the Amiga, awesome game... one of my favourites. This one is completely different though, as you can see! :D

Any chance of providing a download link for it? Cinemaware no longer offer the ROM file, perhaps an overlooked feature when they revamped their site.

@BrianDavis1313 Indeed! :D I actually think the FMV one is more fun, because of the cheesiness and also because of how frustrating this game is. I couldn't find any guides online so I had to just randomly combine items (in the section where you create weapons and the time bomb from different parts)... annoying! Nothing beats the Amiga original though, there are links in the description, you should take a look at that and see how you think it compares to these strange versions of the game.

God, you're right, it is completely different to the original. I guess they thought it needed dumbing down for a console audience as the original is a much slower, atmospheric style of game. It's a shame as I would have loved to play the original Amiga version on the Mega Drive at that time. If this is the game that is going to be released on the Mega Drive soon I think I'll give it a miss. Shame, as I was excited at the thought of playing the "proper" ICFTD on Sega's system.

Aaaa so that's why I never heard of it. Too bad they changed it into a shooter/run n' gun, it's unlike anything else that shared the name, and is the worse for it.

This is what happens when a game designed for intelligent computer owning people (not second hand yellowed A500 losers with 100s of blank disks to put cracks on No!) is watered down to the lowest common denominator....console gamers haha
