I watched this movie as a boy with my grandfather, whom I also called "Papa". I always wanted to go with him to New York after that, just him and I. We never got to go but we would always talk about it. I'm 46 now and I wish I could still go with him. LOL. Good memories, brought a tear to this old man's eye. Thanks for posting. I will watch again in a month or so! Christmas is right around the corner!

This needs to be released on either DVD or Bluray!! I can't believe its only available on VHS (OPP and extreme rare) and in the worst picture quality (EP). This is one of the best (made for TV) Christmas movies from the early 1980s, and this is the treatment it gets. At the very least, it should be on DVD in 2022

it's my favorite from my childhood too! I've even had friends buy me what they thought were legit copies back in the earlier 2000s only to find that they were taped from TV to VHS to DVD and wouldn't even play all the way through. :-)

Thanks for posting; I was in high school when this was first released on TV as a holiday special. It was broadcast a couple holiday seasons when I was still in high school. How strange it seems seeing it now, with all the advances in technology since then-funny seeing no answering machines, and public telephones as opposed to today’s ever popular mobile phones. And of course, a great holiday classic. I saw in the opening credits actor Hamilton Camp is in this; it just so happens he played a “Christmas role” elsewhere as well, in the Laverne and Shirley episode “O Come All Ye Bums,” where he played “bum” Rag

Thankyou to be able to enjoy, this Christmas story, of love,...mind you , i didnt appreciate the heavenly scene, as it wasnt biblical, to how people get into Gods Kingdom,...there are 2 resurrections of the dead, the 1st,...are of those whos lives are in the Lord, Born Again fully, immersion,...Baptised Beleivers, & who keep the 10, Commandments,...not just keeping 9. & have the faith of Jesus, holly wood doesnt know the truth of this nor does the protestant world of churches W.C.C.which isnt good, if they follow the roman rule, unto persecution, & on pain of death, to all who worship not rome. I will stop here,...on this,...but to whom whoever will,...il pray, you will ask God to reveal His Holy truth of true scriptural teachings from His Holy Bible,...& that be the truest version is the ole king James 1611 version, cos it hasnt been Sabbataged, by rome, changing Gods words for mans words in all the many translations there are now,...Godbless, they that seek the Lord,...while, He maybe found of Him, & Amen to this. My Mum loved lil Micky Rooney's acting. In all movies, he acted in,...God rest his soul.
