This was very interesting. It makes me wonder if it was these expectations and demands that turned my grandmother into an alcoholic. My grandfather was very ambitious. Sadly, he wasn't at all like Mr. Baxter. Fortunately, after they divorced in the 1960s, she stopped drinking and was able to find peace. On a more whimsical note-the dresses, interiors, colors, scenes of New York and architecture were such a pleasure to see! Thank you for posting this!

What you nvr asked your mother? or Dad? It was made in 54 9 yrs after the war. Lots was changing more opportunities to make money and if you or your family had struggled to make ends meet then you were going to make the most out of it. The rise of feminism, females having done males jobs during the war came home to wives that had been self sufficient without their husbands. You should ask questions and look into history. There was lots of propaganda in films then as there is today......
