@@juliocesarg.r.1238 To be fair, the book suffers the same problem. The Kids get a whole Summer together but the Adults only get 48 hours together. It was so nice to see someone appreciate Ch. 2 as much as I did. "BEEP BEEP," was a reference to the book. Richie would imitate Loony Tunes characters, and when he was being obnoxious or talking too far out of turn, the group would say "Beep beep, Richie," (like the roadrunner) as a way to tell him to shut up. Pennywise drooling was Bill Skarsgård's reaction to the prosthetic teeth, and they decided to keep it in. What makes Pennywise so scary in both of these is the incredible practical effects and physicality. The eyes moving separately, the drooling, the contortion - all actually done IRL by Bill Skarsgård. Man earned his money.

i'm so glad you caught onto richie's love for eddie. pennywises way of scaring richie and putting fear into him was knowing his secret which was him being gay and the possibility of him being outed as such, so many people don't realize this even after watching the movie. just as pennywise feeds on all the others fears like mikes family dying in the fire, ben being "fat" and unlovable, eddie's mother basically giving him munchausen by proxy making him fear medical stuff, and beverly with her past of abuse from her father and others. it's really such an interesting movie and the way they went about expressing that in the newer films was so well done. i love this movie and part one so so much and im so glad you watched it for the last episode of natmares! the ending of this film is really such a beautiful way of ending the story and im so happy you enjoyed it as much as i did. gonna miss natmares so much, until next year! love you content, keep up the amazing work! happy halloween!!

Being afraid of being dirty was more Eddie's fear than Stan's, although Stan definitely was a neat freak. In the books, Stan was someone with a very orderly mind who couldn't deal with things that made no sense and did not fit in the proper scheme of things. If I remember right, he told the Losers that Pennywise didn't scare him, Pennywise *offended* him because he defied all the rules of the natural world. The real problem for Stan was that he couldn't deal with his entire world view being shattered. He barely managed as a child in part simply because he was a child and therefore still had some capacity to deal with the irrational as most children do. When the protective amnesia faded, the adult Stan no longer had that ability to cope with the mere existence of something as absurd and unnatural as Pennywise. At least, that's the way the book portrayed it.

Interestingly, in the book, when Pennywise was defeated the entire sewer system collapsed & caused massive flooding and earthquake-like damage to the Derry. Almost like the city had been built with Pennywise as the foundation and its' destruction meant the city's destruction as well. Less fun fact, the opening scene was based on the real life hate crime murder of a gay man & the incident was King's inspiration to write the book (with themes of direct violence- bullying, bigotry, domestic violence- as well as people looking the other way when violence is being carried out being strong themes)

"This second film was so much sweeter..." Indeed, because that's partially the whole idea behind the original novel: a long letter to the concept of friendship. Sure, it has some pretty messed up things (no story is really challenging without a larger than life foe); but in the end it's a picture of the special link a group of people in need had in one particular moment and how it made them survive through pretty messed up challenges. That's why, to have the full picture, both sides of the book/film are needed. "IT really has a fragile ego" Kind of; and it's part of the original novel: IT draws its power from fear; the more fear and violence people has, the more powerful IT becomes (that's why when IT wakes up violence scalates dramatically in Derry, that's also why they hit to the point of death that poor guy). The "loosers" have in their favor something called the Tchud Ritual: a battle of wits where they have to outsmart their foe. In this case, they decided not to enter in explanations but directly have them mock IT; robbing a lot of its power by controlling and casting away their own fears. That's why it needs to invoke all this disgusting images and invoke all sense of guilt available: he can't let them focus on good things to have power over them. The novel makes one dishartening revelation, though: IT can't be killed completely, since it exist beyond the physical realm (this clowny spidery things is just its manifestation in this dimension). They have destroyed its body and vanquished it, but somewhere beyond the stars... IT still exists. "They chose to forget..." I don't know if that's covered in a bit that was lost in the editing room; but IT also has some hand into it. The magic that links them is also the thing that keeps their memories "alive" (so to speak). When they separate (drawn to succesful lifes, opposite to the "loosers" they were in childhood) the link spreads thin and dries, causing them to forget. Mike is the only one who decides to stay, even when he has a couple of chances to go and he remembers because he is still close to the place and what happened; but in turn he has some though luck (since IT, pulling the strings from behind, wants all of them to leave and find good reasons to never return): the historian doing his best to keep history alive. "I found this second part more disturbing..." Each person finds more disturbing one side versus the other, depending on different reasons: many can't stand the gory elements mixed with child characters; while others (as you mention) find more relatable and scary the fears dug up in adulthood, when one is expected to have "conquered" the childhood traumas and the "unreasonable" fears to the unknown. The novel reminds you that (as Stephen King once said) some ghosts/devils still live inside you. "A punishment" While the idea of you cosplaying is interesting; I think it would be more interesting the drinking challenge *to a generally agreed bad movie* XD. Drink everytime you say "come on!", you don't understand something or you want to strangle actors/directors/writers. And that would be it; nice to see you react to this film and find the story holds more than just horror scenes; best wishes with your punishment and see you in the next one.

While not as good as Chapter one, because that one benefits from a more simplified plot, pacing and runtime, I still think IT Chapter 2 is just as necessary and likely on par with it's predecessor. This story is such a great one, The Losers Club is so well realized I would love to be a part of a friend group with that much integrity. I've read the book, and these two movies captured it better than anyone thus far. Looking forward to The welcome to Derry prequel.🎈

Funny thing about the Ben reveal was the guy you thought was Ben was the original child actor that played him in the Tim Curry version. Another note, later King books reveal Pennywise survived somehow, or perhaps one of it's babies because in the book you find out It is pregnant.

"KIss me, fatboy!" XD!!! Still one of my favourite lines. 25:56, the design of the clown "punching bags"and the laughs they give off are Tim Curry, from the original miniseries. The toilet stall scene was the literally the most blood ever used in a horror movie. Just finished rereading the book for the first time since I read the first(after watching "It:Chapter 1"in theatres, so will explain a few fun facts where they come up! Throughout the movies, theres a few references to a turtle. Theres the turtle statue on the desk before Pennywise attacks Ben as Beverley, last movie had the Georgies lego turtle before the "You'll float too"scene and the group spot a turtle when swimming in the quarry. The turtles name is Maturin(the same name as the drug that Mike gives to Bill)and its a benevolent, but neutral spirit in Stephen Kings lore that vomited out the universe(King was pretty high when he wrote the book, mind you). "Beep beep Richie"is what the group tell Richie in the books when they want him to shut up when he's joking too much. Audra and Tom(Bill and Beverley's spouses)both have a bigger part in the books, but sadly don't in the movie or miniseries. Audra follows Bill to Derry, while Tom goes after her to get revenge for her beating and leaving him. IT gets in Toms head and has him kidnap Audra for him to unsettle Bill, with Audra becoming catatonic at seeing Pennywise's true form, while Tom dies from fear of seeing IT. Bill takes her on a final ride on Silver, using the last of his childhood magic to help her recover from her catatonia. I love these adaptations, but I get sad every time I read the ending of "IT", as the friends begin to forget each other fully after IT is destroyed for good, with them promising to hang out in the future and promising to never forget each other, but knowing its not the truth. Given my nostalgia and missing my childhood friends, that hits hard. One thing I wish was explored more in the films was the belief factor. There's said to be a third spirit(only called the Other)that gave the kids their magic through their friendship. They explored it a bit through the group making Pennywise small and using the empty bolt pistol to damage him in the previous film, but Richie's jokes and even itching powder hurt IT in the novel and their belief that IT can be hurt by silver when Pennywise transforms into a werewolf allows them to do some major damage to IT. Pennywise appears as a spider to the group in the final battle in the novel(though only because thats the closest thing they can see him as)and they also reveal that Pennywise is a female and pregnant. Ben smashes the eggs and he's FAIRLY SURE he got them all, but its possible he may have missed one...

That R+E at the end... I know it's the Bury Your Gays Trope, but the fact that it's never said for two whole movies just really stings with the tragedy of it. I love it.

As a 90s kid I loved the original series when I was growing up but as an adult I love seeing and understanding the themes of the story. Its all about how childhood trauma impacts us for life and to heal we have to confront that. If you get the chance the Tim Curry It is entertaining, its far tamer since it was made for tv but still fun. Tim Curry nails how It acts when they are adults and Bill hits the child era It perfectly.

Interesting fact: the tv miniseries was released in 1990 and 27 years later It chapter 1 was released. The same 27 year skip that is noted in the book, movies and miniseries. The miniseries has a great cast too. You may want to check it out.

I had some very minor troubles accepting some of the actors in their roles. Like Seth Green as I'm so used to him from other stuff, like Buffy (which I love that in the It miniseries his fear was werewolves and then in Buffy he becomes one lol). And the girl that played young Beverly I saw first as Eunice in She's the Man.

I would love to hear your reaction to the novel. Funny thing all King novels are linked through the King multiverse. The power that Danny had in the Shinning novel you know the shine? Well the Loosers Club all have a bit of shine to them. That is one of the reasons they were able to take on and defeat Pennywise.

Back in 2019, I went and saw The Lion King remake in October right before it was gonna go to home release, since it was back in IMAX for some reason. What can I say, I like Hans Zimmer’s score in IMAX audio. But they had the trailer for It Chapter 2 before it since it was the only new IMAX movie coming out at the time. And unfortunately, naturally a little girl was scared when a trailer for an R-rated movie came before a Disney film. She told her dad “Daddy I’m scared”, and her dad said “I’m sorry darling, I don’t know what the fuck they’re fucking thinking, playing a fucking horror movie before a family picture, you’re not supposed to fucking show this to kids!” The irony was not lost on me.😂

Pennywise has this effect on the city, you see, when somebody leave the city, they forget about things happening there, he is so ancient and evil that without doing anything, still has an effect on everyone in Derry

Hey I know Halloween requests are done now but I still want to suggest a couple you can save for next year. They were fun cheesy horror. The Babysitter, Happy Death Day, and Scream. Also 80s films Tremors and Critters. And Ghostbusters because that was really good. Yep. This is my whole Halloween request list. Hope you can do these later.

It's ironic that you thought in the beginning Richie has a radio show because he does become a radio DJ in the book. Having him as a comedian is one of the changes I like that they made from the book. And as for the guy at that meeting you thought it was going to be Ben in which you said was a misdirect, you're not far off. That guy played the child version of Ben in the 1990 miniseries. So this was a cameo for him. That's not the only callback to the miniseries in this movie. Pennywise says "Kiss me, Fatboy" which was a line from that miniseries. And the design of the swinging clowns in the funhouse Bill walks into is the same design of the original Pennywise. And I don't know if you realized it, but the old man that sold Bill back his bike was Stephen King. He was nervous because he said that he always screws up his cameos. And since you were asking after that if Bill forgot about Georgie too, the answer is yes. In the book when Bill tells his wife Audra that he has to go to Derry, he says that even though he's mentioned Georgie to her, he only repeated a fact. He says that he hadn't thought about Georgie since after he left Derry as a kid. And in the book's ending, the Losers forget everything all over again. Therefore, Billy ultimately forgets Georgie which is so painful. And since you were wondering if that kid with the skateboard (Dean) did indeed die in the funhouse or if it was an illusion, I'm sure it was real. In the book, the kid was real, but he didn't die. After the Losers kill Pennywise, a flood has happened to symbolize that Derry is dying just like Pennywise. Bill sees the boy in a raincoat chasing a paper boat. Bill tells the kid that everything is going to be all right now. I also like how you realized that Stan's head with the spider legs was a callback to "The Thing". Even Richie saying "You gotta be fucking kidding" is taken straight from that part of the movie. You should react to the 1990 miniseries to compare both adaptations.

Fun Fact: Bill Skarsgård can move his eyes in different directions. He demonstrated this ability in ‘It’ when he crossed his eyes as the character Pennywise. This ability is not a CGI effect, but rather a trick that Skarsgård can do on demand.

One really impressive thing about this movie I think is the casting of each character. They all could reasonably be older versions of the young cast members IMO. :) I think also, it's not just about Pennywise's ego, it's about him being able to make people afraid of him, that's his biggest tool. Once they group is able to figure that out, they're not as afraid any more and it makes him less powerful.

The comedy wasn't something I was expecting from It when I decided to watch the original and these modern versions. And it was implemented so well that I think that I'd actually say I really really liked these movies when I'm not really a horror fan. (Speaking of, all the react channels I follow going into "Halloween horror" mode for a month basically forced me into watching movies I had never seen just to have new react content I could watch lol) Though I didn't really jump too much during these movies. Only one time where I realized I jumped was at the end of this one after the giant balloon popped after the failed ritual attempt and they shone the flashlight up onto that rock formation and Pennywise was giant and peeking out between the jagged spikes. And that's one of the times when you didn't jump haha.

About the power of friendship, in Stephen Kings universe, these friend groups always form in some fashion to solve the problem (Christine, IT, The Mist, Children of the corn, The Green Mile etc which are all in the same universe). SK calls these “Ka-Tet, One from many”. These are cosmically bound groups of people that are fated to work together. They can share thoughts, feelings and intentions on a very low grade telepathy. Just some trivia.

When people think Pennywise died in this movie, I tell the truth. Pennywise didn’t die. The Deadlights are immortal and are located outside of our universe, in a place called The Macroverse (which is an infinite amount of space surrounding our universe). As the Deadlights stay in The Macroverse, and can’t be reached by humans, then Pennywise will survive forever. While IT’s physical form was temporarily destroyed, IT is very much not dead.
