Stanly did what he did because he wasn't able to face Pennywise again. Even as a child, he had trouble accepting that Pennywise was real, in dealing with all the supernatural elements. Stanly is the kind of person who *needs* things to be stable, unchanging, and *real*. As an adult he just couldn't accept or deal with the reality of something like Pennywise--and he did that rather than face it again.
@brandontrammel45813 ай бұрын
Also like Beverly he saw Pennywise dead lights and was never able to get over it. And tho it's hinted at in the book that the losers have the shining it's said that Bill's and Stan's were the strongest again why it affected him so much.

It's also because Stan knew that if he returned, his fear would hold the Losers back from being able to defeat It. It's a strangely noble self-sacrifice 😭😭😭
@sebastianemond53133 ай бұрын
I'm not sure how I felt about the ending message from Stanley, though. I get what he's trying to say about how since he was the most afraid of Pennywise, Stanley saw himself as the weak link in their group, which would've given Pennywise a way to tear them apart. But if they had something to fight for, to bring them together, like his passing, the Losers Club would've been stronger than Pennywise in their bond than their fear. However, I just don't feel right about their portrayal of the idea of taking your own life as a noble sacrifice. Can you imagine what kinda of influence that could have on real people with self-harm tendencies or thoughts of taking their own life? Still, I don't think that was the director's intent. It just kinda rubbed me the wrong way.
@paulonius423 ай бұрын
@sebastianemond5313 Nobody but the fool who commented before you thinks it was a noble sacrifice. One of the many things I don't like about this version (and that the original miniseries handled much better) is that this movie really threw Mike Hanlon's character under the bus. Mike in the miniseries is much more like Mike in the book -- he's an honorable man, holding down the fort, keeping watch (because he had to). Here, he tricks the others, withholds vital information to manipulate them, etc. But at least he didn't have Old Lady Tiddies.
@Thundarr1003 ай бұрын
Yeah. The 2017 movie did Mike dirty too. They took Young Mike's useful trait of being interested in Ferry's history and gave it to Ben, who already had the useful trait of being naturally talented at engineering and developing plans for stuff like building their hidden clubhouse. Mike just became the token black kid who was there because he was a character in the book.
@robertyeah22593 ай бұрын
I agree. I do like that they let Mike be part of the final battle this time, but they made him the screw-up who lies and almost gets everyone killed so it kinda sucks. Plus, since Henry doesn’t put Mike in the hospital in this version, everything with Henry escaping, attacking, and dying is 100% filler 😂

She won her first Oscar and SAG and 2nd CCA for playing televangelist Tammy Faye Baker in "The Eyes of Tammy Faye. She had some 'old lady tiddies' in that film. Luckly, she doesn't have them now. Richie was played by BIll Hader. He is best known for being one of the comics on NBC's "SNL" and more recently the dark comedy "Barry", He has also been in such films as "Forgetting Sarah Marshall", "Trainwreck" with Amy Shumer, "Adventureland, "Superbad", "Pineappple Express", "The Skeleton Twins", and "Tropic Thunder". He has also done voice work in "Toy Story 4", "Turbo", "Inside Out" and "Cloudy with the Chance of Meatballs', just to name a few of his vast credits. Personally, I wasn't as scared of this version as I was of tv movie "It" with Tim Curry, John Ritter (Three's Company), Harry Anderson (Night Court), Richard Thomas (The Waltons), and Tim Reid (WKRP in Cincinnati and Sister, Sister). Maybe it was because of too much CGI or because I was much younger for the tv version.

_IT_ is one of King's best books with young characters. He writes youth so well and doesn't get enough credit for that. The relationships in that book are so touching and well done.

I hear voices in the sewers too but it's only in the sewers of NYC and they sound like 4 teenagers from the '80's shouting "Cowabunga!". Weird, huh? Or am I the only one that hears them? 😂🤣

So just for some back story on the opening bridge scene. I was 12 when it happened and it was really my 1st exposure to the whole gay community and hate crimes. In 1984 a young man in my home town of Bangor Maine (yes where Stephen King is from) name Charlie Howard was killed. 3 teenagers in town found out Charlie was in fact gay. They cornered him on the State street bridge, beat him and threw him over into the Kenduskeg stream. Charlie could not swim and died. Also the "Jade of the Orient" is\was an actual restaurant in Bangor called "The Oriental Jade" where people stopped because it was found out that one of the cooks was adding.....lets say it was his own home made ORGANIC sauce. Old lady tiddies seem to always show up in King movies. Also yes that statue is Paul Bunyon and is\was outside of what used to be the Bangor Auditorium but is now "Cross Insurance center"

0:36 so in the book the young and adult storylines happen together. It kind of jumps back and forth when appropriate. However it actually starts with the adult characters, probably takes 50 pages to get to the kids.

First, read the book. It's better and scarrier 😈 Second, the book actually tackles both timelines at the sametime, switching back and forth periodically.

This was my biggest problem with the reboot. Not to mention they didn’t even cast part 2 until after they finished part one and then they had to de-age the young actors to fill scenes they came up with years later. The book is almost 40 years old - even if they wanted to make the bad choice to separate the time lines what made them think they didn’t need to film ALL of it while the teens were a certain height? It’s not like they thought they were gonna just put out part 1 and hope to get the green light for a 2nd. It is a story about the fear of the mind come to life - this movie is about a cgi clown running at the camera every 4 minutes.

@ginoborrero22223 ай бұрын
The beginning scene where Adrian and Don are getting bullied and Adrian gets killed by Pennywise was actually based on a real event in 1984 where Charlie Howard was murdered/drowned by a group of bullies. Rip Charlie 🪦🙏🏼

💔 It's so vicious in the book. Stephen King read about a hate crime before he wrote It and he was so upset by it he put into his horror story.

The kids had the big sewer Beverly bang-train in the novel because "Quick, what's something everyone remembers about being young, no matter how much you grow up?! Losing your virginity!" And that's how the adults have the ability to tap into the Pennywise memories.

If you liked the transitions between the childhood and adulthood of the characters, you should really consider watching the Haunting of Hill House. It has a very similar setup. It has to be one of the best series ever made. It is horror but it is SOOOO sooo much more. Please consider watching it.
@sebastianemond53133 ай бұрын
That series is so good, the way it portrays the inner turmoil, guilt, and pain those with addiction or trauma, and how they cope with it through their life. It's so tragic and disheartening, making you feel such empathy and sympathy for the family in the story, as they come together against Hill House. I love Mike Flanagan's work, from Oculus to Hill House to Doctor Sleep to Midnight Mass.

@mysticdigital5936 To each their own opinion. I saw Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass. Midnight Mass was good but it didn't touch Hill House. Eventually, I will watch Bly Manor. Generally speaking, I hope Flannigan's interpretation of the Dark Tower trumps all but that's a pretty tall order.

Stan took himself off the board because he knew that once everyone was together, they would've died. He didn't want that to happen. It wasn't breaking his promise. It was him self-sacrificing himself so everyone would be okay and stay alive.

The reason the Ritual of Chud didn't work at first was because Richie didn't sacrificed what he loved most. It was only after Eddie died that they were able to defeat Pennywise.

In indianapolis, Indiana there was a 20ft Mr. Bendo, a bearded mechanic holding a muffler high in his hand, at 16th Street and Indiana Avenue which was maybe a half mile east of the 500 track. I haven't been there for some time but it stood outside of a muffler shop and faced the south. Southeast of this at maybe half a mile is downtown Indy.
