I like how Bailey now has a steady fan base of gay men who want him to do reviews without a shirt lol

The things I was disappointed in was too much CGI, separating the Losers too much, and some pacing issues. It does follow the book pretty well and the adult part was always the least interesting. I think both parts will play better when the director cuts them together. I've personally never viewed IT as horror in the sense that it's scary, but more so the horror of trauma, specifically childhood trauma. Bill Hader was by far the MVP of this movie, but damn James Ransone NAILED his childhood counterpart. I think he was the best casting, I've thought he was great since The Wire so I hope this brings him some more mainstream work. Dude was great.

IT Chapter 2 is not as good as IT Chapter 1 but I have to say as someone who actually read the IT Novel that the adult part is also weaker than the children part in the Novel. That's my conclusion. IT Chapter 2 is still a good film in my opinion. 7/10

I was very underwhelmed by part 1, so after watching your review I'm not too excited for part 2, sounds like it takes a similar route. Like others here I'm much more interested in Dr Sleep - got a lot of time for Mike Flanagan, and also The Lighthouse, by the director of The VVitch, Robert Eggers.

I wasn't such an IT fan. I don't really like jumpscare horror movies. Doctor Sleep looks really good though. Can't wait for that.

I wasn't much of a fan when it comes to the first film. IT was pretty good for a big budget mainstream studio horror, but I think it's overrated. The last trailer for Chapter Two intrigued me though. I don't quite understand why so many people think it's scary. I think Andy Muschietti is a competent director. But I'd really liked to see what Cary Fukunaga's take on the material would've been.

Bailey are you excited for Doctor Sleep? and do you think the horror will be the same way as here in It ? because I really hope the rely on atmosphere rather than jumpscares
@BreakingBanter5 жыл бұрын
Kind of, but I do trust Flannigan to really nail the horror, especially tonal dread
@RipleyE-we1hj5 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing you're not familiar with Mike Flanagan's entire filmography. For the most part he focuses more on atmosphere than jumpscares. Even his jumpscares are warranted. Watch Ouija: Origin of Evil. There's one particular scene where a person sneaks up on someone, but Flanagan smartly executed that in a natural way without adding an obnoxious loud music. Also, Netflix's The Haunting of Hill House. So I have faith in him, but on the other hand the masses prefer jumpscares or fun horror movie (that's why Ouija: Origin of Evil has a low audience score🙄) over atmosphere or even storytelling.🤷♂️

@@RipleyE-we1hj yeah it's a shame movies like Hereditary aren't as well received by audiences. Thanks for the recommendation though, will probably watch some of his movies before Doctor Sleep comes out.

@@franklinachu2937 Personally, I love Hereditary (and Midsommar). Saw both films on opening weekend. Love both films for different reasons. As for Ouija: Origin of Evil. That scene I mentioned, it's not exactly sneaking up on someone, but close to that effect. I don't want to ruin that scene for you.😜 You're welcome!!! I'm highly looking forward to Doctor Sleep, which is Mike Flanagan's second (first one was Gerald's Game) Stephen King book-to-film adaptation.

I'm so excited for Doctor Sleep. It looks so good. I love that its both faithful to the book and a sequel to the movie. Flannigan really seems like the perfect choice.
