These are the gecko gauges. They are specifically made for lap siding like lp smart siding. The give the installer the ability to install as a solo while someone is cutting and doing touch ups. These help give a constant reveal throughout the entire install.

Not sure if it's relevant to this vinyl siding, but with wooden siding you would want to allow for the wood to expand and contract with the seasons, hence not fixing in place in two positions.

Why nail it so high question mark seems like down the road. If you need to replace one board, you're gonna have to rip up a ton because the nails are so high
@mountaintopremodeling
@mountaintopremodeling 5 ай бұрын
That's where it's suppose to be nailed. Why nail at the bottom so water can get into your nailheads? We build with the intent for something to last, not to make it easier for someone to demo something.
@distanceman8147
@distanceman8147 23 күн бұрын
Also nails are high to hide them. You can demo with a flat pry bar a hand held recopricating saw and a little caution.

You installed it too tight at the ends my friend. You must give these Hardie Planks at least 1/4” of wiggle for expansion and contraction, then use flexible silicone/caulk.

@@justaregularperson23 because it's only an additional couple hundred dollars on a very many thousands of dollars project for a much superior product.
