Nicola, Cheryl and Kimberley were/are best friends and Nadine and Sarah were also close friends, but there was definitely a divide between those two groups in the band.

Alot of Girlgroup Icons to this day don't do this sort of thing. They just released a book in america called but will you still love me tomorrow where past girl group icons come together to talk about what they went through beginning in the 1950's. Many of them came out of their career with nothing.

I think the bright spot in her death is that the girls seem closer. I know prior to all this it was more Nadine and Sarah were close and nic, Cheryl and Kim were close but since her passing the fragility of life has shown that no matter what, they are all connected in a way and we need to cherish our relationships. Also appreciate Nadine’s openness on her denial. I have yet experienced this type of loss but I would probably feel the same as well and it’s a very valid emotion in times like that.

I don't think Nicola was wrong to point out her concern about Nadine's denial. I had the same experience. When my dad was dying my mom was in denial and she held onto every little positive feedback. But when my dad passed away it was so traumatic for her. I talked to my sister about my mom's denial because it concerned me alot. Sometimes ppl don't want to hear the truth because they can't handle it. I knew on day one that he was going to die and when he did pass away I knew he was at peace and all that struggle was finally over. I felt when I saw him in his coffin I had passed through the toughest part of grief and accepted it.

It was weird what Nicola said to Nadine, people process things so differently. I'm in denial as a fan. I recognise Sarah is gone, but that's where it ends. It's like new information again when I see something like this and am reminded she really is no longer with us. I listen to their music without thinking about the fact Sarah will never sing that song again. So as Nadine is one of Sarah's closest friends, I can completely understand if her response is the denial. It's traumatic and understandable why she may not want to face the reality of one of her closest friends being gone. They should have the means so I hope they all get the right help to process it all 💕

Although I never really looked into their personal lives and just enjoyed their music, Sarah's death brought me to learn more about them from the celebrity perspective. Her book "Hear me out" gives a very good picture on her life and how she lived it. She wrote as she was fighting the battle and it's incredibly profound. Plus there are two contributions from Nadine and Cheryl. Highly recommended.

I would be interested to know just how close they all were (not that it really matters anymore). But my gut feeling is the fame and fortune changed these girls in so many ways and ultimately in girl groups you have tension and friction, it pretty much happens in all girl groups. I got the impression Cheryl didn't keep in touch with Sarah toward the end. Kimberly seems the most down to earth in my opinion. I know Nadine went to LA and made something of herself there, so distance would've made a distance to their bond. I think Sarah was a great personality. Also down to earth and LOVED her life. They are all grieving and Nicola was just expressing concern for a friend, who, if she had stayed in denial, might have been hit even harder by the loss and gone into a spiral. The only thing I think Nicola gets wrong here, is the one who is coping the least well following Sarah's death. Cheryl may not have been the closest friend to Sarah, but she looks absolutely done in by everything. I think the other 3 girls are stronger emotionally. I loved GA growing up but I can't forget over the years how Sarah talked about how she wasn't in touch with Cheryl, Nicola or Kimberley. It was really Nadine and Sarah then the other three. They shared something the 5 of them for a big portion of their lives but to act like nothing was ever wrong and that they were always best friends is not right. They only came to Sarah's bedside when she was forced to share her cancer diagonosis on Instagram after being spotted at the hospital. The issue wasn't when they first joined the band, it was when they split whilst all in their late twenties and that's when the rfit began. It is sinister when people suddenly change the way they saw someone in life to the way they talk about them in death. Three of the members of GA openly bashed Sarah & Nadine in interviews. Why do you think Nadine was never around Kimberley, Cheryl or Nicola after they split? She's always had a bit of a big ego since day one - having appeared on the Irish Popstars, she probably thought it had given her the edge. All the "Nadine is the voice of the band" comments only exacerbated all that, but, to put it lightly, that didn't really translate into the massive success she'd probably imagined in her head. To make matters worse, all the girls, including Sarah, have noted that Nadine had the nastiest work attitude (tardy, diva etc). That had given Kimberley (who was the de-facto manager during the band's earlier days) quite a headache, which was especially tough considering she and Nadine were very close in those days. Maybe Kim thought that Nadine was exploiting their friendship - I don't really know. Last, but not least - Nadine has a bit of a reputation of being a liar. That was literally what kickstarted her career, in a way. I don't know about you, but I think it's only natural that people don't really gravitate towards individuals like Nadine.

I’ll be the first to admit that Nadine was my least favourite of the band. Best singer of the group by miles, no argument there. But I didn’t like how aloof and almost arrogant she was, definitely the least personable of them. And I didn’t like the fact she seemed to have a personal grudge towards Cheryl. Although I do think Sarah’s passing has softened that relationship between them. Having said that I feel very sorry for Nadine. Sarah was like a big sister to her and her death absolutely destroyed Nadine in a way more profound than the other three. It’s very sad that that iconic quintet is no longer.

So what? Where is it written in law that we have to stay in contact with everyone we've ever known. Are you in touch with everyone you went to school with, people you spent every day for years with? They were put together, forced to spend time with people they might not be that close to and when they disbanded, they went their separate ways. Just like most of us at school. They may have been friendlier than the others, but they were never best friends.

So what? They may not have got on that well but they still cared about each other. They were a bunch of young kids, put in a forced situation where they had to work together. It's so childish to expect them to be best friends and to stay besties forever like they are a bunch of school kids. They were colleagues, some became closer than others, end of story.
