As a southerner I've felt heartfelt sympathy for the industrial towns of the mid and north lands for many years. As a country we've abandoned these people. I'd like to see that put right.
@ionlyfearphobophobia11 сағат бұрын
I'm a born southerner, yet i guess now i'm a northerner having spent the last 2/3s of my life up here. One thing i've noticed every time i go down south to see family for Christmas or something, is down south it feels like a frog in boiling water, an oblivious acceptance that the state of this country is normal and acceptable not knowing anything else. Up north there is far more of a sense of community, that's treated by the government as less and uncivilized, yet in truth this is how a nation should be run, where you look after each other. I don't think most southerners really understand the level of damage this globalization mentality creates, since that rat race mentality is all they've ever known. I think Reform will put it right.

Steel is a strategic industry for any country, and the UK imported 60% of its steel needs in 2023. That adds to the UK's overall trade deficit. Why should it be cheaper to import steel and transport it from anywhere else in the world rather than making it within the UK for domestic needs is down to overbearing government controls and policies. The same could be said for other sectors of UK industry.

It is a political decision to keep a steel industry active in a country. For many, it is of national interest to retain a steel industry. The UK politicians have decided to abandon steel making and across the country steel manufacturing plants are dying. Scunthorpe will need to reinvent itself, with the way things are going. To some extent, they have done that by becoming a specialist steel manufacturer, but without general government support for the industry, it will die. From the video, many of the folk have given up. The old Tory and Labour parties need ditching and Reform should be given a chance. What is there to lose? The farmer's wife (if anyone is frowning at that, then get over it) should examine Reform's idea on Inheritance Tax. Other political parties have discriminatory policies in that regard, which need changing. AND I'm talking about wives, not just farmers. Best check out what Reform wants to do with inheritance tax and in particular what happens to a wife who is not British, when her British husband dies.

Hang on a minute, didn’t the Brexit party (mostly made up of reform members) convince people to vote for Brexit, in Grimsby (a neighbouring town)? Telling people in Grimsby, that, after Brexit, they would be living in the land of milk and honey, when they took back control of British waters. I feel like people in this town should really be looking at what they would be voting for, if they voted for reform.

@ Of course I can, look what's just happened with USA and Canada, that can't happen within inside the EU. The reason the EU was created was to make an economic area/partnership to help stop more wars taking place in Europe. Just in time manufacturing was amazing for our joined countries, regulatory alignment is fantastic and just pure common sense. The list goes on and on when it comes to being close or better still a part of the European Union. Also, don't forget, as a member state we still had trade deals with all these other countries, and with way more clout behind us as a bloc of 450 million, rather than just 67 million.
@lochnessmunster11894 күн бұрын
@@blushadow1726 No- the EU has nothing whatsoever to do with stopping wars anymore. The Concert of Europe, from 1815-1914, was a period in which there was far, far fewer wars in Europe than any century before, happened without an EU-type structure. How could that be? Why didn't the American Union prevent their civil war? I can think of one reason in which it helped to cause it.
