Darren, Sony making stupid business decisions to compensate for other stupid business decisions doesn't make it smart. The PS5 Pro is going to be an enormous flop. It is less capable than it's predecessor excepting raw compute power, except that compute power right now is near irrelevant because what games this Gen even seriously tax the existing console hardware? As to inflation, you're right of course, our currency is rapidly being debased to shit, however Sony still bears the brunt of the the bad optics when it raises prices by 40% *and* offers fewer features. You can no longer own physical media with their new consoles. Which tells me they want to go to an all digital model with a monthly sub and force everyone into it whether we like it or not.

You do realise you'll be spending a lot more on a PC... Are people thick? It is categorically good value. 2tb SSD + a 4060 with DLSS capability would be near 600+. That's without half of the components. People need to stop jumping on hate band wagons for fun. It is worth MORE than 700, categorically and undeniably. I've not seen a single person or creator explain WHY 700 is too much. Break down the components and value them. PSSR/DLSS don't come cheap.

Some places ps5 2020 launch already cost 700-800 usd. This will be 1000+ usd. Most of these countriesnin africa and asia are low income. A console investment highly depends on its success. How many people have that console determine how many games and studios develop games with that console in mind. If ps5 pro is for 1% 3rd party studios will not give thier 100% effort to optimise for sure. Imagine parents wanting to gift ps5 pro to little kids. No one here is talking about specs. Ps4 was massively underperforming machine at launch. No one complained. Also consoles can and should not be compared to pc prices thry have high limitations. There is the risk of embedded drm and only digital, but physical media is being phased out anyway regardless. The advantages of console have been taken away over the last 15+ years. Consoles are now low spec PCs you can't upgrade with closed systems. I say this as a long time ponybot, too.

(Atleast from what I can tell, it looks curved and awkward on the sides, so is clearly meant to stand up) Clearly the stand makes it a lot better, since that's how they designed it to be, yet they want you to pay not only for the stand but for the disc drive as well. I mean just look at it, they literally made it topheavy and unstable without the stand, and you can't put it on its side either! So either you pay the extra money or risk accidentally knocking over your 700$+ device with literally the slightest touch. Why would you design it to be shaped like that, why would you make it topheavy and unstable, because you want to sell the stand.

I've already had a standard PS5 for a couple of years and I can tell you from experience, that the stand doesn't really change the overheating that much (it's hardly noticable) - whether it will for Pro, is yet to be seen. And it absolutely is stable without a stand - heck, the only situation where it would fall off, is if you moved it yourself (which can be easly worked around, by just being carefull or putting the Console itself in a safe place). Other than that, I reccomend just getting a non-Sony stand, because it will be cheaper and better. I'm not defending Sony and the PS5 Pro - I'm just saying, that the stand isn't as neccessary as they want you to think.

Objectively speaking, majority of people who already own a PS5 won't be upgrading. This is marketed mainly towards the PC audience that doesn't wanna wait another 2 years to play GTA6 or the gamers on the PS4 who still haven't upgraded yet. But even if you take that into consideration, just to play GTA6 you have to pay: 700 dollar(console) + another 100(for stand & disc drive) + 80-100 dollars a year(if you wanna play the online component cuz PS Plus) + another 100-200 dollars(if you are unfortunate & live outside the US due to foreign exchange fluctuations) + 100 dollars for the game itself That's like 1200 dollars just to play ONE GAME GTA6. So even for the audience they are trying to target(PCbros) this is just too much. It's actually silly how overpriced this is in the end user's hands

This is the longest I have ever gone without upgrading to next-gen. Still soo many games to play on PS4 so little time. It’s also kinda pricey..don’t remember any console being that expensive. I’d be willing to blow my money on a PS5 but how Sony handled the sale of consoles during launch still makes me mad at them. They gladly sold most of their stock to scalpers who in turn sold the consoles for almost 2x the price. My brother works at a middle school and he said there were tons of sad children who were excited about PS5 but their parents couldn’t manage to get one for retail and refuse to buy from scalpers. Not to mention it pissed off the game developers that made games for launch and no one bought them for a while

PCs (good, high power ones) can easily run a $2000+ price tag. BUT that's for a focused, high-end, purpose-built gaming rig that takes time and effort to assemble and creates a consumer-ideal product. Consoles always stayed relevant by being the *budget* plug and play option. Now Sony's selling a new *version* of a console without the ability to play owned discs for low-end PC prices... If you want the full "pro" experiance you need to spend this much on this stuff: Console - 700 DualSense Edge (The pro controller) - 250 Vertical stand - 30 Disc Drive - 80 All of that equals to: 1060 freedom bucks. For that price you can get a pc, get steam on it, run it with steam os, and you can have a better console. Also the price i just stated is not even the "full functionality" price. Don't forget about ps plus. There are no exclusives on ps5 anyway. So you can play most of the sony games on pc. I'm glad i quit playstation as a consumer 5 years ago. I've been a sony fanboy since the ps2 days. What a damn shame.
