I was just given a true temper flint edge boys axe from a friend of mine now I need a handle but I'm thinking I would like a 24 or 26 inch handle. He showed me a hatchet that he brought from his cabin a true temper hatchet national style pattern really cool. It has been at his fore ever since the 50's. The handle was destroyed. I told him I would restore it for giving me that axe and man it turned out beautiful they love it and although it's a show price now he is going to use it well there goes that razor edge lol. Show the flea market I like that. Darren

Very nice!!! Hey they can look nice and still do work for sure. TrueTemper made some excellent axes over yhe years for sure. I like the idea of a boys axe/heavy hatchet on a 24 in handle. One of my favorite hatchets to grab is a TrueTemper TommyAxe on a 22inch handle I made.

Quite the finds..digging the boys axe the most..maybe cus i need some to go on handles that are sitting around. Personally i would do wood handle on butcher cleaver to keep retro..just my 2 cents

I do have some wood that would look nice as a handle. I have some nice cherry and maple that would fit it..... I like the suggestion!! I'm not sure what length handle I'll eventually throw the TrueTemper on. Maybe make it a house axe size or shorter boys axe. Something in the 24 in size. Thanks man!!!

Really nice finds. Everything on your table would have been three times as much or more around me. Last two cleavers I have seen were $75 and $125. Try boiling the head to get the permabond out. Works great.

Thanks man! I will definitely have to try giving the head a boil. I've fought with it so many times before!

I love the followed me home series ! That TT boys axe is in great shape, but that round lug PLUMB is awesome. Hope you consider doing a build series on it.

Thanks Joey!! I will definitely do a build series on it when the time comes. You know I'm a sucker for plumbs and I snagged this one for a good deal! Another battle with permabond is in my future haha

Let me know if you have any tips. I picked up what I think is Weibelhaus Rhineland today, also with permabond. I’d like to save the handle if possible.

@@Joey-L I've heard from biglife (Ryan) and some others that boiling it may work! I'll have to give it a try and let you know! Maybe record the process.

I have the exact same cleaver but with a 9 instead of an 8

Funny you mention that!! I was just talking about a trade with a buddy last night who might be interested in the cleaver. In looking closer I think the stamp is a 9! When measuring the cutting edge it's also 9 inches. Does yours have original handles? I'd be curious what material they used originally.
