This whole concept is actually really well done. From the thriving populations of local fauna due to lack of human predation. To the reclaimed housing overgrown with wilderness. And the slow moving death encourages you to explore the environment. Such a simple concept, but it gave me similar feelings of the forest from Annihilation.

If I'm someone who wants to get back into fallout 4 after not having played it since nuka world what are the best mode to go for?

I would recommend tales of the commonwealth, fourville and all of seddon's mods, sim settlements 2 and depending on your sleaze tolerance, thuggysmurf's series for quests; el ha's mods, subway runner, beantown interiors, lexington interiors and xander's aid for new locations; pack attack npc and a damage multiplier for gameplay; elianora's outfit packs and whatever gun mods you fancy- everything by deadpool is a good start. Also check out the various settlement crafting mods- there's some brilliant stuff on the nexus, way too much to list. I hope that's useful to you buddy! On a personal note I really don't like bethesda's massive gun designs, so I use a bunch of weapon replacers that make the game look slightly less daft too.
