To anyone struggling with this difficult to master game and movement! Bind your dash to the easiest to press side button on the mouse, if u got one. Game says u need to dash TOWARDS enemy, but it's actually dash any direction while enemy is center of your screen (aiming down sights or not doesnt matter) to active the shoot the soul to stagger effect. U need full stamina BEFORE u dash. All the difficult enemies are countered by this. Level up how ever suits you. (Diminishing returns after lvl 15 so get everything to 15 first), upgrading gnosis is mainly what makes the enemies and maps more difficult with more elites (player lvl does effect this too). Better weapons, spells, upgrades and acess to vaults is the reward for raising gnosis. Don't max your field of view bc alot of hits u think were dodged, fov is what got u. Don't feel bad about a death. Game can be very punishing at just a few mistakes. The only thing u loose is a bit of witchfire if u cant recover your remains. Easily replenished with a run or two. Slight caveat I'd add, you also lose all money items (except actual coins) if you can't recover your corpse either, and you always lose all keys and those are not recoverable even if you get your body back. Lost 9 keys once because I had a weird stretch of luck with each run giving a billion keys and was not dying so maxed them out heh.

@@WizardofWestmarch yeah that feels kinda awful doesnt it? Keys feel so rare until you pump the luck stat a bunch. I've gotten to the point where when I die I buy a few keys off the collector before I head back to gather my remains. Also I only buy what I plan to use that run.

What said @@mrsnackbar9383. When you get luck up you will have a lot of witchfire crystals in your inventory. Use them to buy keys, ammo and other consumables when you have money to spend. When you don't, use remaining witchfire to buy some gold (3000 witchfire = 1 gold) before heading in! :)

I think it was me who tried to explain the third floor mechanic of the tower, so I guess I'll try again and be a bit more clear :P - Overall objective; Enter the portal twice and run the clock out. Step 1) When you enter the third floor the portal is on the opposite wall (where all the monks are chanting). To spawn it you have to clear the initial enemies which will start the timer. - If you then start killing the enemies that spawn you will INCREASE the timer (only useful if you want to get divine essence while inside the portal) Step 2) Enter the portal (again, on the opposite wall from where you enter the floor). This will teleport you into a 'dreamlike' version of the beach level above the tower where special enemies spawn. You don't have to kill them, so it's generally safer to just try and run around and dodge their attacks. Step 3) When the timer runs out it throws you back into the the tower and a wave of special enemies spawn. You have to kill these. When you have killed them all the portal opens once more - Enemies will still keep spawning and again will INCREASE the timer if you start killing them. Step 4) Enter the portal again and run the clock out. When you teleport back into the tower you are done :) Hope that cleared it up a bit, if nothing else the formatting is easier on the eye I think ^^

I'm sure you know this, but I'm unsure whether you notice it during gameplay; the Midas damage falls WAY off when it's overheated (the little bar in the bottom), so when you try to kill something with it, instead of holding down the trigger, it's way more effective to burst fire while it's heated :) Another thing that would improve your survivability is using your dodge more. You generally have fine stamina control during fights, so you could get a lot more dodges in, fx when the sword guys are right up in your face; dodge backwards and continue to fire from there, instead of just standing there. Hope it helps. Enjoying the series a lot so far! ^^

FYI Luck is one of the best stats in the game. Lowers chance of triggering calamity including picking up corrupted items without purchasing them, improves drops from chests and chance to drop elixers, and I forget what all else. But Luck is often recommended as one of the main stats to increase. Edit: The coin you're giving to get into the castle are the Strange Coins you've found earlier in the game. There's supposedly a way to jump over without needing to give him a coin but I have not tried it.

Luck increases Ammo drop rate as well, You wont have ammo issues with higher luck.

you can jump over the gate in the iron castle, its possible. Metanoia is also a good stat for collecting witchfire faster

@@Haelian Assuming the oh is about the strange coins, if you haven't seen them in a while it is easy to not realize, the game doesn't make it obvious in the moment, though I think the item description says it if you think to check.

Luck affects your chance of increasing your calamity bar when you pick up a cursed item (i.e. money). Of course, it sounds like the next big update is going to completely rework stats somehow.

Ya i had to start over. Went up to gnosis 2 and level 41 before i really bothered researching and upgrading. No wonder i was being destroyed half the time

you're often confused as to why your machine gun isn't killing foes when you go all in, it's probably bc you're overheating the weapon and that decreases its damage

I really hope he gives those guns another try on earlier maps and gets them leveled up. Unupgraded weapons almost all feel awful until they get at least one upgrade.

Hey I wanna buy Witchfire on Steam, it's exactly my kinda game and I know it'll be addictive. But it's still in early access and for me like 46.79 or so Canadian. So like $50+ after tax. Steep price. Is there actually enough content to justify the price?

@@benprins8240 I was also in the same boat. I decided to buy it and try it out. I’m about an hour in and the gameplay is satisfying and from asking on steam forums, discord, Reddit and more I’ve come to conclusion that there’s about 20-30 hours until you see/ complete the current content. I will try the game for another hour and may possibly return since I feel like the price is steep for the amount of content there is currently. However, I know there are people with hundreds of hours currently because they like the gameplay THAT much. There is also a roadmap that shows when the other maps will be added which should be sometime in 2025.

If it's your style and ur OK with buying early access. I'd say buy it, game scratches that itch. The devs said the price will stay the same at release. If you're a completionist there is easily 30 hours getting everything maxed out. Alot has been developed in the past year and 3 new maps to come. They have a roadmap on steam if ur curious.

To add onto what other have said, if you do absolutely everything in the game you can get a good 35-40 hours out of it, depending on skill level. I'm 29 hours in on Steam (using a save with a couple of hours from EGS) and I'm mostly done with everything, only missing a Vault, the Tower boss, and upgrading a couple of things to M3 due to the lack of Incantations. I'm not particularly good at the game but I'm not terrible either, so your mileage may vary; hope this helps.

I ended up keeping the game and I have about 9 hours currently. The gunplay is very addicting and is the reason I actually kept it. The core gameplay loop is somewhat repetitive but I'm having a lot of fun. So far it seems like I've gotten about 2/3 of the weapons/ items but I still need to upgrade them. I could see myself putting in probably around 30 hours before I finish the content. I think if you think it'll be your type of game you should try it. The main addictive part is the gunplay so if you think you'd enjoy that aspect for a long time then you would love this game. I think the 1.0 version is expected to drop at the end of 2025. The final version is said to include 6 maps and an arena mode or something like that as well as tons of new weapons/items.

The game really doesnt tell u much and when it does tell u important info the text is gone before u parse what it means! My biggest gripe with this game. Who ever told u healing was a bad stat ment that its a bad stat once u research and upgrade the Henbane fetish which makes healing potions 75/100/125% more effective. But u have to have it equipped. All stats have diminishing returns after lvl 15. Get all stats to at least 15 then add whatever suits ur playstyle. Your spell recharge is like -20% so id pump that up out of the negatives first. Spells recharge by witchfire gained, mainly from kills. Most spells and spell combos are REALLY strong and fun imo, stick to 1 or 2 types for extra goodness and not clogging up your Arcanum upgrades (relics and rings count too, if they have a element stated it will potentially be on the in raid arcanum perk screen when u clear a camp). Luck is good stat to get high bc u get better drops/ammo from chests, enemies and less witch calamities. 22:15 under the bridge has easily one of the best heavy spell currently in the game. 27:45 the physical shield guys always give me trouble. When spells are on cooldown, use the full stamina dash to shoot the soul. Sometimes shooting the center of the shield works? And sometimes legs, charged melee to the shield. Or just shoot it until it breaks. Yeah they suck lol.
