Wanda Sykes is by far one of my favorite comedians. I am a straight woman but have always felt strongly about letting others be 100% themselves and happy. Love her courage.

I find it very interesting how many of these women talk about Ellen coming out. As a lesbian in my 20s, I don't think I can ever fully appreciate the impact that had or how difficult it would have been. So inspiring.

Always liked Wanda. Her combination of wit, sass and funny..well she's terrific. You know, I'm thinking sadly about a friend who passed, some years ago. He spent HIS WHOLE LIFE denying his gayness, and also that he was a mixed race man. I sometimes think he died of exhaustion, just maintaining those two fictional lives, keeping such a tight lid on his genuine self, that he never had time to do anything else. Be real, everyone. This is critical for younger people to understand, especially ones who have no role models or guidance and think they are alone...and... somehow 'not normal"...

Seems like everybody knew about me, before I did! I even got married to a guy. Then, realized, THEN left him, to start living my own Truth. I love 💕 Wanda Sykes!!!

Wanda very much minimizes the misery of coming out to your family when they truly believe it makes you bound for hell...and in their minds? They think a) you can change and b) sometimes it takes " tough love" to save someone they love from what they see is self- destruction/ damnation..... the pain is incalculable and permeating...I was a throw around kid..went from one family member to another...the only person in my life who made me feel like a " blessing" or " gift" no matter the cost to him financially or career ? Was my Gramps ...( who is the only person I promised not to slit my wrists again because he loved me and cried, and I kept it, thank him and thank God for him) the most decent, truly Christian, kind , loving person I have ever known..... when I was 14, he spent a huge amount of his pay to bring me and educate me in Venezuela ( he was engineer for oil company) .a..and with tears in his eyes when I was 17-18..and again got caught with a girl said " Baby, I love you so much, I would rather see you dead at the hands of a bad man, than burning in hell because of a woman..you mean that much to me".... and he meant it, lovingly, kindly . He was in his grave almost 15 years before I fully came out...he was a good , the best, man I have ever known...saved my life, my future and truly loved me....I think she probably had a very similarly hard story..but her respect and love for her family ? " It was hard" ....very loving .a..and damned impressive

I had a crush on a girl in the sixth grade. She ended up moving away. Broke my heart. Our yearbooks came out and as soon as I got mine I flipped right to her picture. I saw her face and just started crying. At one point I started kissing her picture. Then my mom caught me. She took my yearbook and tucked it under her arm. She said I shouldn’t be doing that. “Someone will see you kissing a picture of a girl and they will make fun of you. Do you want that?” I never looked at my yearbook again. I tried my hardest not to think about her over the years. Her memory always brought such feelings of shame. Later on I realized - I have nothing to be ashamed about. I was a girl in love with a girl. What’s so bad about that? To JB - the most beautiful girl on the bus, with the soft honey curls, cherry red pout, and emerald eyes - I hope you’ve finally overcome your fear of fire alarms and turtles. I hope you’re safe and happy, wherever you are. Thanks for making my heart flutter 💓

If I were Wanda, I would have questioned the statement she claimed Chris Rock made about only lesbians being funny, like really Chris? You should know that it doesn't take being a lesbian to be funny (are YOU a lesbian Chris?!), especially when I myself have seen chicks that for the most part claim to be gay (and it's quite obvious they are) and they actually weren't all that funny, but people can have different definitions of comedy. What it does take is basically having a sense of humor and being able to tell jokes, but the fact that Chris felt the need to emphasize that "most" funny women are gay makes him come across like he has a bias towards straight women being funny, when he himself is not all that funny, nigga bye! Lmao!

Vibrating Cat You are not dumb. I hope the day comes when we all identify just as humans who love and are loved. Gay, straight, Democrat, Republican, Chinese, Australian, black, white are all just stupid labels. All that should matter is being a human who has empathy for his brothers and sisters.
