I met a lady that was a young girl when she was in this flood. I recall her story. It was very scary! She gave horrid details to our class. She was walking on the beach after waking up and the stench was unbearable she said . She had to crawl out over the bodies on top of her. She saw a man cutting off fingers to steal jewelry off from people dead on the beach.

My sons' great-grandfather lost his first wife when this happened. He was left a widower with a young son.
