Obviously they have many differences but I believe they were intended to be a precursor of sorts, of what Saul would later have to deal with. He doesn't at all ask about Skylar or how Bogdon was condescending towards her, his wife for crying out loud. But instead, first asks about his wounded pride and then doesn't even ask about her. It reminds me of when Walter is trying to show Jesse the truth about Mikes "robbery" being a setup and concludes with, "it's always been me. It's all about me!" 😂

I think it's related to her family's wealth and him being a relatively poor college student. Maybe her father offered to help fund their startup, and he saw it as charity. The point for the story is that Walt let his ego screw him out of a good romantic relationship, a good career doing the work he loved, a Nobel prize, and probably becoming a billionaire, all at the same time, over something unimportant that bruised his delicate ego. If they backstabbed him, that's a totally different character.

After watching Better Call Saul this scene has always made me wonder if Saul was running a scheme with Huell against Walter. It's the perfect unsuspecting setup that he always uses for these sort of things, I wonder if he had Huell spy on anything or place bugs around the house.

She reminds me of my EX-wife. She wants all this magic to happen but also ties your hands 1000 different ways and gets all disappointed and upset if you can't make it work.

Speaking strictly about Skyler and not your ex, she seemed to have legit reasons to reject Saul's many suggestions but ultimately knew exactly how to seal the deal to get the job done.
