This is exactly the point: more minorities with no generational wealth are more likely to have family members as dependent who are not allowed to be classified as such by the IRS. So you may earn the same money like your white counterpart, but you pay taxes on the amount you are spending on dependents you cannot claim, whereas your white counterpart does not have that same problem. This is not to say that white people don't have generational weather issues or dependents they cannot claim, it is just saying that minorities are disproportionately represented.

Again, it's not "white privilege" 🙄 stop making the problem worse. It's poverty discrimination. Plain and simple. Yes, a higher percentage of black people experience poverty than white people. But the discrimination is based on the pay gap, not skin color. Assuming one is privileged simply because their skin is white, or that one has been discriminated against simply because their skin is black, helps no one and only makes the problem worse. We need to stop letting them pit us against each other so we can join forces and fight back. Intergenerational wealth? i know far more families of color with intergenerational wealth, where i come from, than white families. Some of us were raised in families/communities where intergenerational debt is all that we inherit, no matter how hard we work.

Everyone does better when everyone does better. We'd have far fewer people living in abject poverty and a much lower crime rate if everyone had equal access to health care, healthy food, living wages, unionized employment, etc.. Life would be better for EVERYONE! That's what "a more perfect union " means! Until this happens... We will never be living up to our own democratic principles and perceived exceptionalism.

I know this is correct due to it was certain years I ran into quite a few blacks that owed taxes. Not like a couple of hundred but tens of thousands. I said to myself this is weird. I looked at fellow coworkers who were able to live in places I wasn’t and thought that was weird until I found out from a friend in HR that other people make around 20,000 more than a black person. The system itself has racism so interwoven in it that sometimes people can’t see it because they have accepted that this is normal for blacks to be treated that way.

She is so right. There are quite a few of my colleagues and friends who got a monetary gift or gift of land or property from their parents or grandparents that they parlayed into a tangible benefit. I don’t begrudge them at all. I want to be able to do the same for my children. I think that this rift does fall along racial lines but this more of a class issue. What is more disturbing is the fact that there is a financial infrastructure in place that does reinforce being financially marginalized often it does follow racial lines but remember that current construct of race exists to discourage people of common interest from allying to disrupt the status quo.
