But a black female jarl hakkon?!?! Jarl hakkon was a real guy, what an insult to his memory to recast him as something he wasn't because he isn't 'diverse' enough. When will we see tom hardy as the leader of the Zulus exactly? Or Jackie Chan playing Abraham Lincoln? Oh for the love of God people. There where Multiple "Hakons" throughout the viking era. It was a moniker, not a name. The writers, the creator and the Actress herself have all came out and said that she is playing a completely made up fictional character created solely for the purpose of being a mentor to freydis. She was created drawing inspiration from multiple different vikings, both male and female. And yes actually, a quick Google search will tell you that there were in fact dark skinned vikings. Particularly during the end of the viking era when they had been traveling and traiding with Africa and Asia. While yes some where taken as Slaves, others traveled their of their own free will and had children of their own. One of them being Geirmund the Black-Skinned who was called a sea-king and became known as the greatest of all settlers of Iceland, and a friend to dublin kings. And though he never inherited his father's kingdom (His father was ousted before he could) His mother, a Mongolian, ruled as Queen of Avaldsnes. He also had a twin who was just as well renound
