It's also been unusually dry in the Chesapeake Bay area

Exact same here, southern ontario has had several storm systems go through in the last few weeks, but I watch in horror as they completely miss my specific area :( .

Bananas look like that they've come back strong for you!
@justhereforthefoliage23 күн бұрын
@@cincytropics Yeah, they did pretty decent given that they came back a full month later than normal. This was by far their worst year yet for me. Still happy with them though. They are tough plants.

Looking good despite the drought! Yeah it was a rainy and kinda cool at times summer and then the last two or three weeks the rain just stopped

I'm in the same boat, although it seems to be an every summer occurrence here most years. We were in drought in June then July was bountiful now August and September have been crap, besides a dumping of 1.8" in about 30 minutes at the end of August. I may not get any measurable rain this whole month. 7 day is dry. By the way, if you have any windmills you are watering there, be careful of overhead and in the crown watering. I lost a 6 footer one summer and I can only attribute it to that. It was perfectly fine coming out of winter and looked great into summer. I hope we get some rains soon. 😊

@@Palmguy24 It’s insane! No Windmills in here, but wouldn’t that be the same thing as rain falling from the sky?
@Palmguy2423 күн бұрын
@@justhereforthefoliage You would think, right. Maybe it's the chemicals in treated city water, I don't know. I could be wrong but it seems like I've also heard that about windmill palms years ago, not to water or careful not to drown the crown. Or I may have misdiagnosed that particular palm I lost years ago.
@justhereforthefoliage23 күн бұрын
@@Palmguy24 Oh okay, interesting. Good to know. I only have one Windmill, and it's a pretty nice size but it's in a pot, for now. I expect it's going to get too large to move around so I think I'll eventually have to plant it back there.

Wow! That's pretty dry! Have you seen any effects of the drought on the native vegetation?
@justhereforthefoliage21 күн бұрын
@@subtropicalohioplants267 No, not yet, but you can tell they are stressed and it’s going to be a super early fall with the dryness and heat. It will force all the trees to shed their leaves earlier. Tulip poplars are almost already bare already. So crisp and crunchy! What about CLE?

@@justhereforthefoliage We had moderate drought earlier this summer and it ended a few weeks ago. Now it's back to abnormally dry, but nothing serious. After severe drought, there is still extreme drought and exceptional drought.

@@subtropicalohioplants267 I think we’re going to advance into the next category here at some point. Two week is mostly dry and near record heat. 92° this weekend!
