As you were describing UBI, I saw Russia in my mind - before the iron curtain fell. I actually got to live in Russia and Moldova for a month before the curtain fell. People were paid, regardless of skill, efforts, need - and there was NO pride of ownership. The whole country, no matter how fascinating and kind the people - NO ONE CARED ABOUT TAKING CARE OF ANYTHING. At that time the government had started a pilot program where a family could own a very small plot of land in the country. It was astounding how much they could grown on that tiny plot. Because. It. Yes an psychological statistics are readily used on conditioning people, it is scary when you start to dig in. That was my major in college I have chosen to not do counseling anymore an just do life coaching, because a lot changed in what you are allowed to do an what you aren’t allowed to do within the profession but that’s a different conversation. Anywho I just wasted to point out that if you dig into the statistics on people, and how easy it is to get the majority of various types of personalities sadly I must say iq plays a large role in this, to conform to a specific set of beliefs, terms, or conditions etc. it is frightening as we look back up on the last 5 years especially so if you do that in perspective to the rest of the world mostly western an then compare to area such as China.

UBI was and probably still is being done in the U.S. There were plenty of farmers who were paid by taxpayers to grow nothing. Of course, this was done in order to regulate prices to where the government rather than the consumers wanted the price to be. We have all seen what happened to our economy when the checks were sent out. Governments are supposed to be in place for two purposes: 1) to protect the righteous, and 2) to punish the wicked.

Yes. However, the farmer (and possibly ranchers) is just about the only industry not 'allowed' to sell directly to foreign countries - therefore, for large farmers anyway - it was a way to regulate food prices/costs. The US gov't uses this food as bargaining chips with foreign countries; I find it interesting that so many of our farm and ranch lands are being purchased by either foreign conglomerates (meat processing plants) or straight up foreign governments (ie, China). The foreign countries are coming in and offering 3X the current value of the land - so many of this generation are selling out to them due to farm debt loads. The only plus to this is China cannot take the land back to China - and a stroke of the US gov't pen and the land reverts to Americans.

If you are happy to help people out by giving them money, that is called charity. Taxation is theft either way you look at it. The difference is that taxation does not give you the opportunity to consent to it. Also, it is not virtuous to support taxation to help the needy because it is an individuals avoidance of taking the responsibility to offer charity themselves in exchange for supporting the forcible extortion of money from others to "help" some. But we all know that the government spends far more money on never ending wars, and other programs that the average person does not support, over charity. Dont support extortion for the sake of helping people... besides if we all had 30% more of OUR OWN money, there would be much more available to offer in charity.

They will start taxing personal items like tractors, generators, livestock etc, just like they tax business assets now. Alaska has no UBI . The “permanent fund dividend” is not even close to UBI. Alaska has a history of boom and bust. When the Alaskan pipeline was being built. Wise people said let’s put money away for leaner times. Alaskans gave up the ability to own natural resources such as oil even if discovered on your own land. In return money was invested for individuals and the state of Alaska. This investment is called The Permanent Fund Dividend! A yearly check is paid out to every Alaskan based on a formula which includes performance of this investment. Problem is our state officials spent money and started robbing from the pay out that was supposed to go to individuals

The part about UBI that never gets mentioned is where the money comes from. Do you know that Social Security payments were never to be taxed? I mention that because Social Security is a UBI system because virtually all Americans are forced into it. Expect your free money to be taxed if you work a job so that you can't come out ahead by working.

Shallow thinking. UBI will be a necessity, not an option when AI takes away most jobs. And that is a good thing! Most people would rather do something else, anything, than say flip a burger , or answer a customer support line. Only a few jobs are worth wasting your waking hours, let all other crappy jobs be replaced with UBI so people can enjoy their free time. They will still do something (example: painting at home, looking after their child etc). I believe Alaska does NOT do UBI. They give out profits made from oil and oil leases and you have to be a state citizen for a certain amount of time to qualify. Way different than UBI.

The money comes from a investments used from “Taxes” on oil. The payout is usually $1000. Or so a year. Lowest was $325. In the mid 80’s. Highest was when Sarah Palin was governor. If I remember right around $3500. The fund has grown immensely, but so has the law makers Appetite for spending it. So they use up the states portion and have started robbing the money that should go to individuals. Remember Alaskans gave up the right to own oil discovered on their own property in this deal.

First of all $1100 per family isn’t even going to cover rent, let alone the cost of everything else. So, the so-called basic income isn’t going to help the poor or unemployed in any way, and it’s not going to stop anyone from trying to find a job, because that amount of money especially during these expensive times is nothing! One of the people doing the ubi is called guy standing. He has KZbin videos. If you don't have a job the UBI is on top of the welfare payments. If you don't require the UBI you can ask to not receive it. The problem with welfare is it's government controlled. In my country Australia if you do not do what the agency tells you then your payment will be cut. People could be in hospital and forget to report each fortnight and loose the payment until they can contact the government. They also force you into jobs not really suitable or work for the dole. So you are not better off. The UBI isn't controlled by the government. There are no requirements. It offers security. You can even get a loan. Which for people on low incomes is almost impossible. In some of the countries it was trialed people especially women made their own jobs through a mentoring attached to the service. The system we have now isn't working and will fail soon. I'm going to be one of the people out in the country. I have my own place. Mainly because at 58 finding work to cover my basic needs is impossible. I can't get a pension until I'm 67. My skills are not up to the new jobs. I've bought a van to travel in for now but eventually I will be too old. I hope I can rent out the two extra rooms in my house to people willing to help me farm. Not sure what else to do. Having a reliable income would help. The rich are not in favour of the UBI. They like slaves. The UBI will give many freedom. Guy Standing has several books. It seems like we have a problem because we start with a thought, how do I make money. Money is supposed to be an easy method to transact value because we might not need each other’s services at the exact same so we can store that value. Our money today isn’t serving that purpose because it loses value over time. So I think we just need to focus on how to add value to our communities and a new way to make a living will come about as well as proper stores of value. Who cares what these groups and politicians do,lets live right and focus on our own communities and always practice civil disobedience when that try to enact something that defies natural law.

Society will need to drastically need to change in terms of jobs in the future (very near future). There's already way too many jobs out there that only exist because we've determined as a society that people 'need' a job even if it's adding absolutely no discernable value to the world. People are living longer and also producing way more than they used to due to technology, and the population is continuing to grow...not everyone can or should have a job. The question is what are we going to do about that?

There's talk of diesel shortages in the USA this summer. It's pretty easy to see how "they" might usher in, not UBI with this "shortage", but the electronic gulag system via rationing--people will have an app that allocates a certain amount of fuel. It really is just control via databases. The world corporation. UBI will be scrip, coupons to buy certain extremely low end, unprivileged products at some point. At first it will be normal money, but eventually it'll only buy bug paste and synthetic protein from corporations.

Coming from someone who gets 1k a month in the form of VA Disability, which regardless of what percentage disabled they rate you (even 100%), you can still work a full-time job. Having said that I started working more hours and became more dependable at work once I started receiving that 1k a month from the VA because my quality of life improved which effected my overall daily mood so on and so forth. I am most likely an outlier though, and everyone has their reasons for being a lazy pos but for me it has always been directly associated with depression and my depression has always been a direct reflection of income.

Another fellow Vet here, my wife and I sold our business and our home in the city 8 years ago. Started our farm and became more self reliant. So, receiving disability helps but I still do as much as I can physically tolerate. I still have my work ethic and “Pride of Ownership”. Folks who have neither of these attributes will will not flourish in life. If people want to call disability a form of UBI, they are missing the point. I, like you, signed on the dotted line and were willing to sacrifice all for our Government. I believe I earned this “UBI” as a form of “retirement”. So if the 2030 agenda is to provide a UBI - what incentive is there to work? I assume the UBI will be in the form of social credits (not cash) which would be used to access things as we need them. We may not own anything but surely accessing things will 'cost' social credits and this may include necessary consumables like food. I wonder what types of employment will exist? Who should create a country's currency and how should it be put into circulation? How should the amount of currency be controlled to avoid real inflation (i.e. not what we have now, created by incredible greed of large monopolistic corporations)? If you can answer this, then you may be able to define a way to allow all citizens to take part in democratic life. There's multiple organizations that can work on the ground to help organize all this, without the need for centralized government to take our taxes. What makes UBI so attractive is that the old "you're paid what you're worth" has been washed down the drain too many times. First when women entered the workforce, then with immigration, and then don't forget technology. Instead of 200 guys living off plowing fields manually, you now have one single self-driven tractor doing that labour. The masses can't afford a piece of land for homesteading, not everyone is physically able, and not everyone is mentally capable. Soo... fend for yourself in nature with nothing but a backpack and at tent (that you probably won't be allowed to put up most places due to all land being owned), or take your chances with a life on UBI?

I think the answer lies in the CDC federal mandate that during the pandemic you couldn't evict anyone for non-payment from anywhere, but if you were just a private citizen & had a few rental properties you still had to make that mortgage payment. Interesting how the CDC didn't mandate that the people holding mortgages didn't have to make their payments with no consequences. We aren't the USA anymore. We're Americorp.
