I didn't think that last part would hit so hard, but it did. Sarah Zedig RT'd this and I'm glad she did, as another user of she/it I had always described myself as "a woman to strangers, a monster to friends" for how I felt, but people never indulged that because I consistently remained a woman. Relation to automata, creatures that are inhuman, there's comfort in them.

This is revolutionary. For many years, I have tried to relay this feeling of the “it,” of the entity, of straying into the void outside the concepts of masculinity and femininity, to simply embrace the “it” of existence, of simply being. The “I am now,” the “I am that,” the “this is it,” the great “I am.” Here I am, and they know me as it: it with a name, it which does that, that which is, it which prevails. I don the guise of flesh, I existing beyond my physical faculties. I, the mind within the flesh. I, a concept set alight within the machinery of humanity. I am. I am it. I am that being. I am the entity. I am the acolyte. I am the universe experiencing itself. I am. I am. I am. Existence.

I have no words... I just relate. Android to android, I appreciate this video so much. I will use it/its pronouns and this empowered me. I still have trouble with those pronouns, because of the dehumanizing aspect and my family not being supportive which fucked me up... And I like labels because I want to understand myself, but I like to be an eldritch horror too!! Whatever people find the most comfortable is valid so long as their not hurting anyone. Edit: Maybe I don't need to explain or be a label, I just need to exist. Or have a label and not apologize for it.

Thank you so much for this video. I genuinely cried, as someone transitioning to using just It/it's pronouns, with not a lot of people understanding why. This was like looking in to a mirror, and made it easier to explain to people.

So, as in many languages, my native one doesn't have gendered pronouns, but we do have the equivalent of it, which in theory should not be used when talking about humans, but in practice, in casual context people call their friends "it" all the time. Now this doesn't have that much to do with the video, but I thought you might find in interesting anyway. In Finland you could be an it and most anyone would not bat an eye, which has the negative side effect that the statement you might want to make by being an it gets a bit lost

God bless this KZbin algorithm for making me discover this tiny channel which will now be one of my favourite. Your method of second person perspective and such rich writing have made me feel more immersed in what you were saying than any other video essay and really made me understand things in a new perspective, hope to see more!

I would recommend researching the pronoun usage in many of the world's non-Indo-European native languages. You'll find many of them have a general 3rd person pronoun corresponding to universal singular they / it (though English translations tend to give you the 'classically' incorrect "he/she/it", these words do not in fact contain any reference to gender - This is the same problem that perseveres in any and all translations to English: the gendered distinctions get added 'in post'). (In my native language 'it' is the common familiar way of referring to others (While plural 'they' is the respectful). Which is why it has personally always been quite evident, how the English language concept of 'it' being 'dehumanizing' is but a culturally narrow/isolated idea. And a minor one, if counting by the number of world languages).
