My favorite thing about this game is the way they reinterpreted elements of the original book. The fox and cat, the black rabbits, the gold coin tree, Alidoro... it's all stuff from the book and it all makes sense.

It’s hard to see but if you look carefully at the boss subtitles you can read what they say. “Worship the King of Puppets, Praise to him!” “Don’t forget brother, you are one of us.” “We fight for humans, why can’t you see it?” You get some good lore from them.

I know this a month old but I wanted to gush about how I love that every puppet boss has had wonky (yet readable if you can focus on it) subtitles that makes me think there is something happening that we will find out in the story or have to piece together ourselves. It's so exciting!!

I'm kinda shocked how many streamers have NEVER in their entire lives, come across the Riddle of the Sphinx. That's like, THE Riddles101 example, and has been used in gaming as the go-to for decades. The answer is a human because at the "morning" of our lives we crawl on all fours, during the "midday" we walk on two legs, and at the "dusk" of our lives we are hobbled and walking with a cane or crutch.

@@cherrydragon3120 well if you're locked on technically you don't roll, but most souls games you roll either way and when you overheat you can roll to help put it out. In this case it works with dashing but it's essentially a Dodge which is a roll

What’s really neat about the bosses dialogue is that if you look hard enough you can make out what it says. I sometimes lost to bosses on purpose just to keep reading what they are trying to say. What they say is very interesting if you make out what they say.

It’s so interesting how different players approach problems. I’m on my first playthrough - started a couple days ago after picking up the game at a discounted price. When I saw the Puppet of the Future and the lake of corruption, I was like, “Welp, let’s go explore and see if I can drain it.” Glad I did. Lol

Idk if he learned this in a later stream, but each blade type has a rating for what damage it’s attacks do and each handle tells you what attacks it does. So the Greatsword handle he’s using does stabbing and slashing attacks, but the glaive blade does significantly decreased damage on stabbing attacks, so he’s actually getting less damage on the heavy attack string from that combo. It’s a great game with some very poorly explained systems lol.

I won't really matter that much in my experience. You either learn the boss or you don't. Like, yes. If he wanted to do better damage, you'd do strike + electric + puppet damage amulet, but you still don't kill the boss that fast.

@@stevenluoma1268 hm yeah true :) I mean in my run I mostly did a electric build and so far it worked out just fine didn’t have to much of a struggle in the beginning. But it still helps in some situations that’s why you find notes 📝 around talking about how effective electric can be.

@@cherrydragon3120 he’s very weak to electricity, and with a bit of investment into advance, the electric throwables will melt his health away. If you’re really struggling, I recommend using the electrical weapon you buy from the merchant in Elysian blvd, bringing five electric grenades and a few of those vials that create electrical energy on the ground.

I was screaming at my screen to Max :D If your'e struggling with the Fire King then just go grab your Ergo, teleport to the hotel, use your ergo shards, level up & upgrade your weapons. And maybe go grind some enemies for more ergo & repeat :D Then try the boss again :D

Imo, fuoco is actually pretty easy. Idk why max is obsessed with parrying, i just dodged like a normal souls fame and got plenty of opening attacking. I was also using the same weapon as him. Granted ive used most of my ergo on motivity, so my damage is crazy.

Watched 4 players "Let's Play" so far. Yours is the cleanest and does the most damage on first run. Some people play for bosss fights. I love boss fights but for me exploring these well designed areas and levels and the loot system is fun I love getting everything first myself or at least attempting to. I play blind so I do miss things.

I disagree when people say "elden ring is different, it's only as hard as you make it since it's free roam and you can farm" Yes but you can farm in other souls games just by respawning them from the bonfires. Maybe boring as hell, but still possible if you're stuck in certain areas.

Pretty much, I'm not sure if the blast size actually increases with the charge, but I think it does, and if you upgrade you can walk while charging. But you need to be pretty close.

I'll probably try to unlock all the levels for it, the 1st level charged hit seems to have slightly larger range than something like the sweeper sword swing range. Decent for AOE as well. But it does not show the area it hits well. But the uncharged version you really need to be next to them. Most of the legion arms I've seen so far are pretty close range. The hook and an actual gun arm being the main exceptions.

It uses Victorian Europe as a basis of design. Max refuses to acknowledge this about these games. Bloodborne and Lies of P are entirely European in looks and design.

I don't believe you get keys for wrong answers outside of the first and last riddles. You can use the purchasable apple (from one of the supply items given to the clerk at the hotel) to get one key from the statue of saints if you answered one wrong, I believe.

What the guy above me said. However, you have to use the apple for a side quest. So if you used it before then you're out of luck. One of the few gripes I have with the game is some of the side content you unknowingly lock yourself out of because of some decision you made twenty hours ago.

A lot of souls players tend to look down on that strat, plus it gives the boss more hp. It is handy for getting the bosses attention off you though

I found that, unless you had quick cube + the healing cube, that spectres just make it harder. They make the boss act weird, you can still get hit by sweeping attacks while they attack the spectre, and the spectre dies so fast that the extra health of the boss just leaves you worse off than if you hadn't bothered to use the spectre.
