This demo features "Stringscapes“ by Orchestral Tools created with ‪@Benjamin.Wallfisch‬.
I had a lot of fun writing this little horror cue. I got inspired a lot by Benjamin Wallfisch´s score for "IT".

This sounds amazing! Also how do you get the visual tilted look of the DAW in these videos. Looks great!

Thanks a lot! It’s just the basic screen recording with some warping and stretching in Final Cut. Very basic but looks cool :)

I love your demos Friedrich, so much imagination! I'm curious what your favourite orchestral sample libraries are and which ones are your go to for your templates. Cheers,

Thanks a lot for your kind words! The greatest library I own is Peteris Vasks Strings. They are soooo detailed and work for so many different styles. I just released an album yesterday using them (“The Universe” it’s called). I also use them a lot for trailer music - yes, I know. But those are in my opinion the most realistic strings out there for the style I write in. I am also a big fan of Salu and Tallinn. I simply love the concept of those libraries. Another gem is Landforms by Slate + Ash and Pangea by Infinite Samples. I generally love libraries that challenge your creativity and give you so much inspiration. Also a big fan of the new collaboration between OT and Benjamin Wallfisch. But yeah, if I have to choose the greatest library of all time it’s PVS for me :)

@@friedrichgattermann No worries and thanks for the reply! I don't have PVS myself but heard so many great things about it and love all the demos featuring them. Definitely a must add for me in the future as I love chamber strings and agree they are super versatile. Surprisingly I never heard of Slate + Ash and after doing some forum reading it seems like they are quite well known and loved. Thanks for introducing me to new sounds. I hope you continue to release some amazing music, I really enjoy them alot!

Hello teacher, I would like to ask you for advice, I am composing with the OT Benjamin Wallfish strings, and I am using the Tutti Long Legato Downbow and Upbow, and I want to do layering with the Divisi sections, to make the strings fatter. My question is, since the Divisi sections are smaller than the Tutti, should I lower the gain of the Divisi? For example, if I make a melody with the first violins with Tutti, and I double it the same with the Divisi, do I leave the volumes the same, or do I lower the volume of the Divisi, since there are fewer musicians playing? Please, I would love to know your advice. Thank you very much and a big hug from Spain.

I think it really depends on the programming and the dynamic context. I wouldn’t copy the tutti midi track into the divisi ones but rather record every track individually. The tutti violins should sound bolder and louder than the divisi ones so the volume shouldn’t be a big problem. Anyway, you could have a problem with the overall volume of the violins since they might be too loud (tutti + two divisi = two tutti sections).

I don't know why, but the Divisi sound just as loud as the Tutti, it's strange. I'm making all the Tutti independent, that is, the first violins play one thing, the second ones another, the violas another, the cellos another... and then what I did was copy each Tutti line from each instrument, in each Divisi of the same section. To make the sound bigger, and it works very well. What I don't know is why the Divisi sound just as loud as the Tutti. I'm using all of Ben W's activated microphones.

@@electedmusic7685 hm, I don’t know about how they mixed everything. They might have mixed them as loud as the tuttis so they don’t get too quiet in the end on their own.

Great song! If I may ask, what are you using for screen capturing? All the best, Allen

Hey Allen, Thanks a lot! I’m just using the basic screen capturing on Mac. No fancy software, just press Cmd + Shift + 5 and select the window you want to capture and the fun begins :) All the best!
