What about working IT support in a school district? Do you think this is better than starting out at Helpdesk?

I worked for a school. It really depends where you work. I did hardware repair and had to deal with smart boards, laptops and pcs. I didn't really work with active directory or office 365 in a school.

Do you recommend sending cover letters in this type of roles? I seen some recruiters say they read cover letter and some never do

Never used a cover letter in my life. But it does help
