The RF maintain the Tradition of Curtsey and/or bow for the King and Queen. The rest of the family Do Not curtsey and/or bow to each other. Commoners curtsey and/or bow to all Royals, just incase the make a Royal faux pas. Americans just shake hands with royals and may do a polite bow of the head from the neck. Other countries not in the Commonwealth simply shake hands. You( presuming you're English) can also shake hands, if you so choose when meeting the King. It is not against protocol. I'm Australian ( part of the Commonwealth) our politicians simple shake hands, in fact a couple have manhandled the poor Queen by guiding with there hands on her back..😬 She was fine about it and none of her security were concerned. The current King is very relaxed about the whole curtsey and usually grabs hands to shake before accepting the curtsey. The Queen C is uncomfortable with the whole protocol. You have to keep in mind too, referring to Americans, we didn't even know who she was until she was publicly dating Harry. Not saying no one knew her from Suits but she was not a big name. I grew up knowing about the Royals, my mom loved Diana! We are American but very familiar with who the Royals are. All this to say it's not like the Americans knew Meghan, it's not like she was beloved and had a huge fan base. She came on the scene basically as an unknown. She didn't start out like Harry, loved and adored and famous. She was liked for Harry's sake and even I was impressed by her beauty and confidence at the beginning. But as an American I can definitely say it didn't last long. I can't speak for all Americans of course. ;)
