It's cool that some of the character designs describes their School Mascot/Symbol. Like Karasuno's flock of crows style, Nekoma's cat eyes, Bokuto's Horned Owl style for Fukurodani, Oikawa's wood-colored hair (and Kindaichi's turnip/onion head lol). Dateko's Aone's being a literal wall (tall and silent). Like some of it wasn't easy to find or hard to notice but it's there.

The ace, in any sport, is the player that gets the most points. Not necessarily same with the best player, the best strategist, the best leader, etc. But the best to score points, and thereby win the game. Ergo, the ace in volleyball will inevitably be a spiker.

I think Akashi (Fukurodani's setter) is underrated. He's a jack of all traids but a master of none, which is why he doesn't stick much out compared to Bokuto, Hinata, Kageyama and so on, who are especially good at one remarkable thing. He has an instinct for how people think, like Oikawa, a tactical mind like Kenma and he has good technique like Kageyama. They all exceed him in their respective specialty, but he is the perfect allrounder. Plus I love his interactions with Bokuto, it gives me Hinata- Tsukishima vibes.

they say top three aces of japan but its in no particular order although generally people regard ushijima as the best and Sakusa as second followed by kiryu but the Sakusa and ushijima comparison is really up for debate

Oikawa isn't a setter so he's not top 3 ace plus he never even went to nationals so he's pretty low on the chain. Despite seeming popular in his prefecture, he isn't known outside unlike Bokuto or Ushijima who play in the nationals.

@@sarukh6559 Yeah but everything is always about "the ace" :( That's really a concept more than a role, so even a setter can be the ace. After all, the ace is the person you pass the ball in difficult situations.. well you always pass the ball to the setter!!

@Jacopo Basanisi I get what you are trying to say, but the ace is a name for point getters (wing spiker or opposite hitter). However, that doesn't mean that the setter can't be the best player in a team. Oikawa and Kageyama are good examples of that. Oikawa is the best player on his team even though he is not the ace aka Iwaizumi. A setter can't be the ace because he is not a point getter

about the "is it true about Oikawa" I will not spoiler what it is, but it's not even said by now in the Anime. If I had to predict, it's maybe announced in Season 6, that's the first possible moment i would say. Maybe even Season 7, depending on how the split the coming Seasons. (At the moment 4 seasons are out, with the 4th being split in 2 parts. so some maybe count it as 5) So that one was a reallly long set-up^^
