I've also never understood the whole "don't assume my gender" era. When I say "excuse me sir/ma'am" to a complete stranger I'm assuming their SEX and not their gender like everyone in the history of the human race has always has done. I dont care about your gender. Real deconstruction: "Guys" as a term is meant to describe everybody present in a casual manner. An alternative is "guys and girls" There is an argument to be made that "guys and girls" is the actual sexist phrasing, and simply referring to everybody as "guys" gives an impression that everybody is close enough to you to be called as such in a casual manner and respects the fact that a diverse group may be present. Any other alternative further discriminates beyond just simply calling women "girls" and thus, treats them as if you arent close enough to be considered a close friend. "Guys" is the optimal phrasing to both show respect and not discriminate. Simple fact is, "guys" as a term has evolved beyond being a male specific term. Females call groups of other females "guys" all the time, and they've been doing such for over 40 years now. When will feminism be cancelled?
