My wife always complains that I can turn off my brain and go to sleep. Her brain winds down like a frictionless gyroscope.

Mine never shuts down so sleep for me has been a struggle for decades. Put sleep apnea on top of that and it's misery most days. My wife can fall asleep in 30 seconds 😡

Pisses my wife and daughters off to no end. I drink coffee all day, can sit down on the couch and lean my head back and be out in seconds. Military thing, if I need sleep, I can make myself go to sleep. Nice being a man and being able to turn our minds off. Roman empire baby

Career US Army infantryman. The Army taught me to be able to fall sleep virtually anywhere, at any time. I lay my head down in a halfway comfortable position and I can fall asleep in a matter of seconds. If I have 5-10 minutes and need the sleep, there you go.

Daytime naps are easy. Going to sleep at night on the other hand ... my wife puts her head on the pillow and she's asleep, while I wait hours for Morpheus to do his thing.

The only times I have trouble falling to sleep is when there is something I needed to do and forgot. When I get up and attend to it, I'm right to sleep. I can drink 3 pots of coffee and still fall asleep with no problem. However, I am now at the age when my bladder will wake me up about every 2 hours.

My husband could fall asleep and be snoring in just seconds. When I was young I could fall asleep within minutes, but after menopause my brain would be like a hamster wheel of thoughts and it could take hours to get to sleep. I’ve gotten better but it’s still not as fast as my husband could get to sleep.

i learned to sleep anywhere anytime in the military. i might only be able to sleep 1-2 hours at a time though. while i was in the army, in the field, training, out on a road march, i fell asleep walking with a heavy rucksack on my back still carrying my weapon. we'd been out there 6 days, and i was a PFC at the time. so yeah i had the sh!tting turns for night watch and gate guard.

It takes me a while to get to sleep, probably around 2300-2400 on the norm. Once I do, it's interrupted sleep. And then to top it off, I'll wake up between 0300-0400. Like wide awake, out of bed, might as well start working or working out. I have been to the VA to see my arm about it, done sleep studies, been on several different medications, all that make me feel worse, and with very little help actually fixing the issue.

If I'm not engaged, I fall asleep. I've napped everywhere, sleepwalking through jobs including one time, taking a big girl and blocking an aisle to keep the folks in the moshpit area, unfortunately, she was wearing a leather coat and the resemblance to my sister's leather couch was too much. Worked until my boss kept zapping me with his flashlight and I didn't respond.

You don't get it, Bro. We're not upset with you. We envy you! I toss and turn for hours, sometimes all night. But then, I have pain in pretty much every place you can imagine having pain, so it does sort of interfere. Still, I'd give my left... whatever... to get just one good night's sleep. So don't take it so hard, and by gawd I do hope you don't develop such insomnia or pain problems as you become the Grand Old Generation you will eventually be.
